Not everything on your roof is hail damage... and knowing the difference matters.

In this video, we break down the difference between hail hits and blistering. A lot of new inspectors (and even some contractors) confuse the two. But at Texas Roofing Systems, we’ve been on enough roofs to know what we’re looking at.

Blistering usually comes from poor ventilation. The heat builds up, the shingle forms a blister, and eventually it pops. When that happens, you’ll lose all the granules in that spot and sometimes even see fiberglass showing through. The edges of the blister feel sharp and dry, a big contrast from a soft, hail-hit shingle.

Now, this roof has both. That’s not unusual. But it’s important we document it properly so your insurance claim reflects the actual damage... not just what someone guesses from the ground.

When insurance adjusters inspect a roof for hail damage, there’s a specific standard they follow, and at Texas Roofing Systems, we know exactly what they’re looking for.

They check for 10 hits in a 10x10 area, also known as one square of shingles. To approve a full roof replacement, they usually want to see that level of damage on all four slopes, front, back, left, and right.

In this video, we’re showing what that looks like in real time. You’ll see hail impacts where granules have been knocked loose. Those granules are what protect your shingles from UV rays. Once they’re gone, the asphalt starts to crack, and water starts seeping in. Over time, the damage gets worse.

We take detailed photos and document everything. That way, when we submit for a second inspection or an estimate adjustment, there’s no guessing, just evidence.

We believe in showing up, not just on roofs, but in the community too.

Jesse Raub and the Raub Foundation are always coming up with new ways to support families and raise funds for local causes. Whether it’s a golf tournament or a big music event at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, it’s all about bringing good people together to do something that matters.

Last year’s music night was a hit, great artists, great turnout, and a lot of support from the sponsors. That’s the only way this kind of work gets done. When folks come together to support a mission, big things happen.

We’re proud to be a part of it.

When Jesse Raub Jr. calls, you answer.

We’ve known Jesse for decades. He grew up right here in Magnolia, and even though the town’s grown, it’s still got that small-town heartbeat. Jesse and the Raub Foundation have been doing big things for this community, and we’re proud to play a small part in it.

This isn’t the first roof we’ve helped with, probably the third or fourth by now. Every time, it’s the same deal: Jesse finds someone who needs a hand, and we get the crew together to make it happen. No questions asked.

It’s not always easy to carry the full cost of a roof, but we believe when the community comes together, especially for someone who’s done so much, it makes the load lighter.

Also, shoutout to the world-class supervisors out there. Pointing counts.

This one started with a simple question: “How can we help someone in our community?”

Jesse Raub and the Raub Foundation reached out to a local VFW to find someone in need and they immediately had a candidate. We came out, saw the roof, and said “We got it.” No hesitation.

That’s how it’s always been. At Texas Roofing Systems, if we’re in a position to help, we do.

What started as Jesse trying to supply socks and underwear for shelters has grown into something much bigger. The Raub Foundation helps people from all walks of life, single moms, veterans, families who’ve lost everything, and we’re proud to support that mission however we can.

Fresh socks. A clean roof over your head. It may not seem like much to some people, but to the person receiving it, it could be everything.

We’re here for that. Every time.

This kind of work isn’t new to us,
it’s just what we do.

We’ve partnered with Jesse Raub and his organization over the years to provide free roofs for families who need a break. Sometimes it’s after a loss. Sometimes it’s a family going through a hard time with no one to call. Either way, we try to step in and help where we can.

Most folks don’t know much about roofing , and they shouldn’t have to. When something goes wrong with your home, especially after losing a loved one or dealing with financial hardship, we believe the last thing you should have to worry about is whether your roof will hold.

This project is part of a larger mission we’ve been on for years: to serve the community and take care of people who need it most. No credit or spotlight required.

Jesse Raub Jr. from the Raub Foundation reached out to us about a roof in serious need. There were major problems, and the roof was in bad shape. Most roofing companies would’ve walked away, but we’re not most roofing companies.

At Texas Roofing Systems, we said yes without hesitation. Full re-deck. Full roof replacement. No charge to the homeowner. This is what community looks like, stepping up when it counts.

We’re proud to partner with Jesse and the Raub Foundation to give back to families in need. If there’s a way we can help support his mission, we’re all in.

We don’t mess around when it comes to temperature and shingles. Once it drops to 45 degrees or lower, we’re not scheduling any roof installs, not because we can’t, but because it’s not worth the risk.

Shingles are made with asphalt, and when it gets too cold, that material gets hard and brittle. Start driving nails into them or trying to move them around, and you’ll end up cracking more shingles than you install. We’ve seen it happen.

Now, we know the guys up north love to brag, “I did 87 squares in five feet of snow with two broken fingers.” Good for them. Down here in Texas, we’ve only got a handful of cold days a year, so we’re not going to risk your roof or our crews just to prove a point.

Bottom line... we roof when the weather’s right, so your roof lasts longer and doesn’t get torn up in the process.

At Texas Roofing Systems (TRS), we’ve been hearing a lot of dirty rumors going around the roofing industry, especially about insurance claims. So, let’s set the record straight.

We don’t give bids on insurance jobs. Ever.
Here’s why: the moment a contractor starts “bidding” on an insurance claim, it usually means the customer or roofer is trying to manipulate the payout and that’s insurance fraud.

We only go off the insurance-approved estimate, plus the homeowner’s deductible. That’s how the process is supposed to work. It keeps things legal, transparent, and fair for everyone involved.

Some companies will promise the world, undercut prices, or knock on your door with “too good to be true” offers just to get the job. But that’s not how TRS operates. We’ve built our reputation on referrals and trust, not door knocking and sales tricks.

Our quality speaks for itself. We clean up our job sites thoroughly, walk the property after every install, and make sure you don’t find nails in your yard or trash left behind. We do the job right, and our customers spread the word.

We work with Public Adjusters (PAs) all the time, but once a homeowner officially hires one, the process changes.

As soon as a customer signs a contract with a PA, the adjuster takes over all communication and negotiation with the insurance company. At that point, we legally can’t get involved until the PA has completed their work and the claim is settled. Once it’s approved, we step back in to handle the build, replacement, or repairs.

The homeowner can hire any Public Adjuster they choose, but we always recommend using someone experienced and responsive. We’ve worked with a PA who’s been highly successful, someone who calls both the customer and our team back, keeping communication smooth and professional.

If communication breaks down, we’ll still do what we can to make sure the customer isn’t left hanging. But ultimately, the PA runs the show until the insurance side is complete.

At TRS, our goal is always to support the homeowner through the process, whether it’s before, during, or after the claim. Once the PA gets your approval finalized, we take over from there and get the job done right.

At Texas Roofing Systems (TRS), we’ve been doing this long enough to know one thing for sure, every roof has rotten wood somewhere. And if a roofer says otherwise, they’re either lucky or they’re not looking close enough.

We’re replacing rotten fascia and decking the right way. No shortcuts, no felt or shingles over soft spots. Some people online might call us heroes for fixing wood, others say we’re doing too much. But we just call it doing the job right the first time.

Rotten wood left under a new roof will always come back to haunt the homeowner. That’s why we take the time to tear out bad sections, replace the decking, and make sure the foundation is solid before we ever lay new shingles.

We stand by our work, we stand by GAF, and we don’t waste time arguing with online critics, we just get the job done right.

📞 Texas Roofing Systems, honest work, experienced roofers, and repairs built to last. No shortcuts. No surprises. Just quality you can trust.

We’ve seen it all,
from insurance companies approving partial roof repairs to calling for “just 80 shingles.” But the reality is, it’s rarely that simple.

Once we start lifting shingles to repair, we often find that the rest are too brittle. That’s why we perform a brittle test: lifting shingles to see if they crease, crack, or break. If they do, a simple repair turns into a much bigger job, because continuing that way would cause more damage than it fixes.

GAF’s warranty even requires us to overlap their felt at least eight inches. When insurance limits the scope, that overlap rule forces us to tear up more shingles just to meet manufacturer standards. So when truly needed, TRS fights for full replacements.

We don’t cut corners or leave you with a halfway job that voids your warranty. We fight for what’s right, document everything, and get your roof fixed correctly the first time.
