Not everything on your roof is hail damage... and knowing the difference matters.
In this video, we break down the difference between hail hits and blistering. A lot of new inspectors (and even some contractors) confuse the two. But at Texas Roofing Systems, we’ve been on enough roofs to know what we’re looking at.
Blistering usually comes from poor ventilation. The heat builds up, the shingle forms a blister, and eventually it pops. When that happens, you’ll lose all the granules in that spot and sometimes even see fiberglass showing through. The edges of the blister feel sharp and dry, a big contrast from a soft, hail-hit shingle.
Now, this roof has both. That’s not unusual. But it’s important we document it properly so your insurance claim reflects the actual damage... not just what someone guesses from the ground.
