☀️ Your AC isn't the problem. Your house is.

Even the most efficient air conditioner can't keep up with a home that leaks air. NYSERDA gives New York homeowners the same guidance: weatherize BEFORE upgrading cooling equipment — otherwise you're paying to cool the outdoors.

What summer weatherization actually does:
✔ Blocks heat pouring in from a superheated attic
✔ Keeps the cool air you already paid for inside
✔ Evens out the hot upstairs / cold downstairs problem
✔ Takes the strain off your AC so it cycles less
✔ Stops pollen, humidity & smoke riding in through the same gaps

And the benefit nobody talks about: a properly sealed and insulated home stays comfortable for HOURS longer when the power goes out — which matters when summer storms roll through Westchester and the Hudson Valley.

💰 NYSERDA rebates up to $5,000 are available through 12/31/26, depending on the measure package your home qualifies for. We'll walk you through it.

Serving Westchester County and the surrounding region.

Your AC isn't the problem. 🌡️

If your upstairs still feels like an oven at 4pm with the thermostat cranked, the real issue is usually what's happening above your ceiling. An under-insulated attic can reach 120-150°F on a sunny day - and your AC is fighting that all afternoon.

So which insulation actually keeps a house cool: spray foam or cellulose?

Short version:

🔹 Spray foam seals. It stops air leaks completely and packs R-6 to R-7 per inch - ideal for attic roof decks, rim joists, and crawl spaces.

🔹 Cellulose blankets. Dense, ~90% recycled paper fiber, R-3.2 to R-3.8 per inch - the better value across attic floors and existing walls.

Honestly? A lot of older homes around Westchester do best with both - foam to seal, cellulose to blanket.

We broke the whole thing down, including where each one wins and what NYSERDA rebates New York homeowners may qualify for 👇

Does your upstairs feel like a completely different house in the summer?

That was exactly the problem for this homeowner in White Plains.

The finished attic was difficult to keep comfortable year-round. In the summer, the rooms became unbearably hot. In the winter, the walls felt cold and the heating system struggled to keep up.

The problem wasn't the HVAC system.

The problem was hidden inside the walls and sloped ceilings.

Our team completed an Exterior Dense Pack Cellulose Insulation project that allowed us to insulate the finished attic and exterior wall cavities without removing interior drywall or disrupting the living space.

By carefully accessing the wall cavities from the exterior, we were able to:

✔ Improve comfort in the finished attic
✔ Reduce heat gain during the summer
✔ Help keep warmth inside during the winter
✔ Reduce drafts and air movement through the walls
✔ Improve overall energy efficiency
✔ Restore the siding so the work is virtually invisible once complete

Many older homes throughout White Plains, Westchester County, Rockland County, Bergen County, and Essex County have little or no insulation hidden inside finished walls and attic slopes.

If your upstairs is always hotter in the summer or colder in the winter, your insulation may be the missing piece.

We'd be happy to help you find out.

Summer temperatures are climbing, and so are electric bills.

If your air conditioner seems to run all day but your home still feels hot, uncomfortable, or impossible to cool, the problem may not be your AC system at all.

Many homes throughout New Jersey and New York loose cooled air through the attic, walls, crawlspace, and hidden air leaks. That means your air conditioner has to work harder and run longer just to keep up

Common signs your home may be wasting energy include:

☀️ Upstairs rooms that are hotter than the rest of the house
☀️ An air conditioner that never seems to shut off
☀️ High summer electric bills
☀️ Uneven temperatures from room to room
☀️ A home that still feels warm even with the thermostat turned down

Improving insulation and sealing air leaks can help keep conditioned air where it belongs — inside your home.

The result?

✔ Lower cooling costs
✔ More comfortable rooms
✔ Less strain on your HVAC system
✔ A home that stays cooler longer

We've been helping homeowners throughout New Jersey and New York improve comfort and energy efficiency since 2005, and we'd be happy to help you too.

If your house feels hot and your energy bills keep climbing, it may be time for an insulation assessment.

Your AC is running nonstop. The house still feels hot. You've had it serviced. Nothing's wrong with the unit.

Here's the thing — the problem usually isn't the AC at all.

It's your attic. On a hot afternoon, an uninsulated attic can hit 150°F. That heat radiates straight down through your ceiling all day long, and no air conditioner can keep up with it.

The fix isn't a new unit. It's insulation and air sealing — and New York homeowners can get up to $3,000 back through NYSERDA to cover it.

We broke down exactly what's happening and how to fix it.

Is your home constantly too hot upstairs during the summer?

Do certain rooms always feel uncomfortable no matter how low you set the AC?

Your attic insulation could be part of the problem.

Many homeowners in New Jersey and New York don’t realize their attic may be under-insulated, damaged, or no longer performing the way it should. Over time, insulation can settle, shift, compress, or allow air leaks that make your HVAC system work overtime.

A few common warning signs:
✔ Hot upstairs rooms
✔ High cooling bills
✔ Drafts or uneven temperatures
✔ AC running constantly
✔ Rooms that never feel comfortable

The good news is you can check for some of these problems yourself.

In our latest article, we break down:
• How to inspect your attic insulation
• What R-value actually means
• Signs your insulation may need attention
• When it’s time for a professional assessment

If your home never seems comfortable no matter the season, we can help you identify what’s really going on.

Metro NY Insulation has been helping homeowners improve comfort and energy efficiency since 2005 with professional cellulose and spray foam insulation services.

Is your house freezing in the winter… but somehow still too hot in the summer?

If your HVAC system runs constantly, some rooms never feel comfortable, or your energy bills keep climbing, the problem may not be your heating or cooling equipment at all.

In many older homes throughout New Jersey and New York, the real issue is poor attic insulation and air loss.

Your attic plays a huge role in how your home holds heat during winter and blocks heat during summer. When insulation is missing, damaged, or outdated, your home loses conditioned air year-round, making it harder to stay comfortable no matter the season.

At Metro NY Insulation, we help homeowners improve comfort, lower energy costs, and make their homes more efficient with professional attic insulation and energy-saving solutions.

✔ Helps keep your home warmer in winter
✔ Helps reduce heat buildup in summer
✔ Helps your HVAC system work more efficiently
✔ Helps lower monthly utility bills

Spring is one of the best times to upgrade your insulation before summer temperatures arrive.

Serving homeowners throughout:

3 signs your attic insulation isn't doing its job:

1. Upstairs rooms that are noticeably hotter than downstairs
2. Your AC runs constantly but the house never feels cool
3. Energy bills that keep climbing even when you haven't changed your habits

Any of these sound familiar?

Most NJ and Westchester homes built before 1980 are running on R-11 insulation — about half of what's recommended today.

We just published a full guide on what your attic actually needs ↓

Already noticing your home getting warmer as the weather changes?

We hear this every spring:
• “The upstairs heats up way faster than the rest of the house.”
• “My AC is already running more than it should.”
• “Some rooms just won’t cool down evenly.”

Most of the time, it’s not your AC system…

It’s your walls.

If your wall cavities aren’t properly insulated, heat starts pushing into your home as soon as temperatures rise.

And after a winter of cold rooms and high heating bills…

it’s the exact same problem—just reversed.

Our Exterior Dense-Pack Cellulose Insulation fills those empty wall spaces from the outside—without opening your walls.

✔ Helps keep your home cooler in summer
✔ Keeps heat inside during winter
✔ Improves comfort year-round
✔ Reduces energy costs

Spring is the best time to fix it before the next season hits.

Serving New Jersey and Westchester since 2005—we understand how frustrating it is when your home just doesn’t feel right.
