Is your home constantly too hot upstairs during the summer?

Do certain rooms always feel uncomfortable no matter how low you set the AC?

Your attic insulation could be part of the problem.

Many homeowners in New Jersey and New York don’t realize their attic may be under-insulated, damaged, or no longer performing the way it should. Over time, insulation can settle, shift, compress, or allow air leaks that make your HVAC system work overtime.

A few common warning signs:
✔ Hot upstairs rooms
✔ High cooling bills
✔ Drafts or uneven temperatures
✔ AC running constantly
✔ Rooms that never feel comfortable

The good news is you can check for some of these problems yourself.

In our latest article, we break down:
• How to inspect your attic insulation
• What R-value actually means
• Signs your insulation may need attention
• When it’s time for a professional assessment

If your home never seems comfortable no matter the season, we can help you identify what’s really going on.

Metro NY Insulation has been helping homeowners improve comfort and energy efficiency since 2005 with professional cellulose and spray foam insulation services.

Is your house freezing in the winter… but somehow still too hot in the summer?

If your HVAC system runs constantly, some rooms never feel comfortable, or your energy bills keep climbing, the problem may not be your heating or cooling equipment at all.

In many older homes throughout New Jersey and New York, the real issue is poor attic insulation and air loss.

Your attic plays a huge role in how your home holds heat during winter and blocks heat during summer. When insulation is missing, damaged, or outdated, your home loses conditioned air year-round, making it harder to stay comfortable no matter the season.

At Metro NY Insulation, we help homeowners improve comfort, lower energy costs, and make their homes more efficient with professional attic insulation and energy-saving solutions.

✔ Helps keep your home warmer in winter
✔ Helps reduce heat buildup in summer
✔ Helps your HVAC system work more efficiently
✔ Helps lower monthly utility bills

Spring is one of the best times to upgrade your insulation before summer temperatures arrive.

3 signs your attic insulation isn't doing its job:

1. Upstairs rooms that are noticeably hotter than downstairs
2. Your AC runs constantly but the house never feels cool
3. Energy bills that keep climbing even when you haven't changed your habits

Any of these sound familiar?

Most NJ and Westchester homes built before 1980 are running on R-11 insulation — about half of what's recommended today.

We just published a full guide on what your attic actually needs ↓

Already noticing your home getting warmer as the weather changes?

We hear this every spring:
• “The upstairs heats up way faster than the rest of the house.”
• “My AC is already running more than it should.”
• “Some rooms just won’t cool down evenly.”

Most of the time, it’s not your AC system…

It’s your walls.

If your wall cavities aren’t properly insulated, heat starts pushing into your home as soon as temperatures rise.

And after a winter of cold rooms and high heating bills…

it’s the exact same problem—just reversed.

Our Exterior Dense-Pack Cellulose Insulation fills those empty wall spaces from the outside—without opening your walls.

✔ Helps keep your home cooler in summer
✔ Keeps heat inside during winter
✔ Improves comfort year-round
✔ Reduces energy costs

Spring is the best time to fix it before the next season hits.

Serving New Jersey and Westchester since 2005—we understand how frustrating it is when your home just doesn’t feel right.

Your upstairs shouldn’t feel like an oven… but for a lot of homeowners, it does.

We hear this all the time:
“My AC is running all day… but upstairs is still hot.”

We understand how frustrating that is.

The problem usually isn’t your AC.

It’s your attic.

When your attic overheats, that heat pushes down into your home, making it harder to stay comfortable and driving up your energy bills.

The good news?

There’s a real solution.

With proper insulation and air sealing, you can:
✔ keep your home cooler
✔ reduce strain on your system
✔ lower your energy costs

If your upstairs is already heating up, now is the time to fix it before summer hits full force.

Most homeowners think fixing cold walls means tearing their house apart.

It doesn’t.

We talk to people every week who are dealing with the same thing…

The heat is on, but certain rooms still feel cold.

Upstairs gets hot in the summer.

And nothing seems to fix it.

What most people don’t realize is this:

👉 The problem is often inside the walls — and you can fix it without opening them.

We use a method that fills empty wall cavities from the outside using small access points. No demolition. No turning your home into a construction zone.

Once those walls are filled, the difference is something you feel almost immediately.

√ More Confort.
√ More even temperatures.
√ A home that finally feels comfortable again.

If your home has always felt a little off, there’s usually a reason — and we can help you figure it out.

If your house never feels quite right, this might be why

Many older homes across New Jersey and New York have **empty wall cavities** — meaning heat escapes in winter and builds up in summer.

When homeowners start looking for a solution, two options usually come up:

1. Injection Foam
2. Dense-Pack Cellulose

At first glance, they seem similar… but they behave very differently inside older walls.

Injection foam expands inside the cavity.

Cellulose is packed tightly into place.

That difference matters — especially in homes with plaster walls.

We put together a simple side-by-side comparison so you can actually *see* how these insulation methods work.

Every winter, we speak with homeowners who are surprised when a pipe freezes even though the heat has been running all night.

The thermostat is set where it should be. The house feels comfortable. And yet, a pipe inside an exterior wall still freezes.
It doesn’t seem logical at first.

What most people don’t realize is that the temperature inside a wall cavity can be very different from the temperature in the room.

If pipes run through exterior walls that aren’t properly insulated, those hidden spaces can drop below freezing during a Westchester cold snap, even while your living room feels warm.

Turning the heat up may help temporarily, and pipe sleeves can slow down heat loss, but neither addresses the root issue if the wall itself is under-insulated.

In many cases, frozen pipes are not just a plumbing problem.

They are a heat loss issue.

If you have experienced frozen pipes before, or if you find yourself worrying every time temperatures dip below freezing, it may be worth taking a closer look at the insulation in your exterior walls.

We have been helping homeowners in Westchester and Northern New Jersey since 2005, and we understand how important it is to feel confident in your home during the winter.

Icicles on your gutters aren’t just a winter nuisance.

They’re often a warning sign that heat is escaping into your attic — and that’s how ice dams form.

When snow melts on a warm roof and refreezes at the edges, water can back up under shingles and leak into ceilings, walls, and insulation. Many homeowners don’t realize the damage starts inside the attic, not on the roof.

The good news?

Ice dams are preventable.

Proper attic insulation and air sealing keep heat where it belongs, maintain a consistent roof temperature, and stop ice dams before they cause costly damage.

If your home deals with:
• Icicles every winter
• Ceiling stains or winter leaks
• Cold rooms and high heating bills

It may be time for an attic insulation assessment.
