Shopping for a house plan? Don't start with the front of the house. Start with how you live.
It's easy to fall in love with a beautiful exterior, a huge kitchen island, or a dramatic primary suite. But some of the details that make a home truly functional are much easier to miss when you're looking at a floor plan on a screen.
Before choosing a house plan, I recommend looking closely at:
• How the rooms flow together
• Where you'll get natural light
• How much storage is actually built in
• Whether the room proportions fit your lifestyle
• Whether the layout can adapt as your needs change
A good house plan should be more than beautiful, it should be a thoughtful starting point for the way you want to live.
