I am Austin Vermeline, the owner and operator of Vermeline Excavating. Malmo, NE is where my wife, Amy and I and our three children live. I grew up two miles outside of Malmo and graduated from Wahoo Public High School in 2005. After graduating college, I worked for a local general contractor mainly in the line of residential construction. In 2010 I took a leap and branched out of my own as an ind

ependent contractor, operating under Vermeline Construction LLC. There was a brief pause from 2013-2018 where my focus was working and growing my farming operation, as well as starting a family with my wife.

2019 was a comeback year; with big dreams for my farm and a growing family in a fast pace world I knew I had to diversify and expand. Siding houses, doing remodels, and framing projects kept me extremely busy over the next several years along with family time and farming responsibilities. Growing up on a farm and farming along with my dad, I always had a passion for moving dirt. In 2021 an opportunity arose of building terraces and a dream of mine slowly became a reality. As a small and growing business, I am the only operator a high percentage of the time. I have part time help from time to time and even my wife gets her hands dirty on occasion. Paying attention to detail is something I learned working residential construction. I want my finish product to represent me as an individual for the level of expectations I have for my work and I want to exceed your expectations as a customer. Family time is extremely important to me, when I'm not operating equipment on a job site or in the field farming, I am enjoying time with my family. We spend a lot of time boating and camping during the summer. Fall, Winter, and Spring, are consumed with school activities and sports, but we try and make the most of open weekends. Terrace building, building pads, site clearing, finish grading, ditch cleaning, and basement excavating are some of the jobs I do.

Day 2 of a new project we are doing. This landlord and farmer agreed to set aside several acres so terraces could be built. If your thinking about a conservation project give us a call. We do design build projects and cost share projects. If you are more on a budget talk with your local NRCS (Natural Resource Conservation Service) office about cost share programs. Summertime provides a larger window to complete projects and through the NRCS there is a bonus payment to the landowner/farmer for setting acres aside.

You want your finish product to represent who you are as a company. This new home had a few tight corners with the property boundary and placement of the septic system, which made water flow and finish grading tricky. The backyard also fell off and needed to be built up so the family could enjoy their backyard. We were proud to exceed their expectations!
