Are you wondering what retro-commissioning is?

"Retro-commissioning is a review of your energy systems and equipment to ensure they are operating properly and as designed. In other words, this is an effort to ensure that you are getting your money's worth! Retro-commissioning ensures that equipment is properly maintained, functioning, and calibrated and that any items missing or broken is replaced. In most cases, retro-commissioning upgrades will save you energy usage and cost and also make the operation more reliable while prolonging the life of the equipment you have heavily invested in.

LL 87 has 25 retro-commissioning requirements, mainly on how your equipment operates. It is unlikely that all 25 requirements apply to your building. However, every building will likely be required to address at least some of these retro-commissioning requirements.

Are you wondering if you can get an extension?

"Yes. However, you must demonstrate to the NYC DOB that extension is absolutely necessary. You will need to prove that the changes that must be implemented to satisfy LL 87 cannot reasonably be completed by December 31 of the year your Energy Efficiency Report is due or that there are true financial hardships in implementing these changes. Applications for an extension must be submitted by October 1. Therefore, one cannot just decide in December that the report will not be submitted on time and then request an extension. When is my once-per-decade energy-efficiency report due? We have the answer!

"The full report (energy audit and retro-commissioning) for LL 87 is due on December 31 of a year based on the last number of your block ID #. For example, if your block number ends in 2, then your report is due on December 31, 2022. To have your full LL 87 Energy Efficiency Report completed, contact us today."
