Northern Peabody, LLC (NPI) is a mechanical contracting company established in 1946, and located in Manchester, New Hampshire. We specialize in industrial piping, process piping, plumbing and HVAC. Our work is primarily the installation of mechanical systems in competitively bid plan and specification projects. On projects that are mechanical nature or design-build constructi

on, NPI acts as a general contractor. NPI also acts as the construction arm for many energy performance contracts for companies such as Trane, Johnson Controls, and Siemens. NPI company management team has over 100 years of combined experience. We bring to a project the ability to provide the client a technical, practical and economical solution to all a project’s needs. NPI leads a team with a comprehensive overview and strong support structure. As our project list grows, so does the need to add additional resources. We are currently looking for an Estimator to join the rest of our amazing team in our Manchester, NH office.

Responsibilities include estimating the total cost of projects assigned within various industries and ensuring equipment and services performed meet contract documents. (Industries include healthcare, education, manufacturing, etc.) As an Estimator, you will be tasked with researching the materials, sourcing options, labor, and permit costs for a given project. You also will flex your interpersonal skills working with office team members, contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to get required details in order to deliver appropriate estimates. Project sizes range to upwards of 5MM.
This position reports to the Senior Estimator.
Additional job details:
• Seek out contractors for prospective jobs on designated websites and service portals.
• Perform cost estimates for assigned jobs, translating construction documents to detailed cost estimate.
• Budget projects from incomplete documents for general contractors.
• Ensure vendors and subcontractors provide pricing for specified material and equipment.
• Evaluate project risk and subsequent pricing impact.
• Lead project estimate process from kickoff through completion.
• Lead estimate development for indirect costs, escalation/risk exposure, benchmarking.
• Source material, vendor and equipment quotes.
• Identify scope of work and task hours on a project level.
• Maintain and update pricing in AutoBid software.
• Keep vendor and subcontractor contact list up to date.
• Post job, evaluate estimate against total project cost; identifies opportunities and learnings, note for future application.
• Assist other departments as needed on projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
• Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, related field or demonstrated equivalent experience in HVAC field.
• 1-3 years of experience estimating in mechanical contracting, engineering, plumbing or pipefitting field.
• Familiarity with plumbing, heating and cooling systems.
• Demonstrated computer skills. (Word/Excel/Adobe. Experience with AutoBidMechanical/QuickPen/AutoCad/Revit a plus.)
• Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
• Able to work independently and apply discretion as appropriate when problem solving.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to travel to walkthroughs as needed.
