***ATTN IF YOU ARE STILL INTERESTED IN THE MY SAFE FLORIDA HOME PROGRAM***MORE FUNDING TO OPEN JULY 1, 2024***
Dear MSFH Contractor,
First, thank you for being a part of our program and making it the success that is. We could not have done it without you.
Now as we move forward into another year of helping Florida Homeowners strengthen their home and save money there are some important program changes, we want to share with you.
Beginning July 1, 2024, the program is allowing homeowners to choose ANY Certified Florida State contractor to make important retrofit upgrades to their homes. (Contractors must be certified by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Local government licenses will not be accepted.) The current contractor list maintained by the Program will cease to exist on July 1, 2024. It will be up to each homeowner to find and manage their own contractor in the open marketplace - which should lead to increased competition and better pricing.
Next, to consolidate the reimbursement process with one set of rules - all grant dollars will be paid directly to the Florida homeowner for them to distribute, including low-income grants.
Finally, there will be a new application process for grants using a tiered approach to prioritize low- and moderate-income Floridians who are sixty and older. Hereβs a quick look:
Low Income homeowners who are sixty and older may apply first. July 1-15
Second, all other Low-Income homeowners. July 16-30
Third, Moderate Income homeowners who are sixty and older. July 31- August 14
Fourth, all other Moderate-Income homeowners. August 15 - 30
Finally, all other eligible Florida homeowners may apply. Starting August 31
PLEASE NOTE:
All your current, including low-income projects follow the old rules, if you have already been confirmed in grantee portal.
Your Low-income reimbursement submittals must now include the original contract/quote with the homeowner. This document should include the details of the work done. Please include this in your draw request or your draw will be returned.
If you have previously submitted a low income draw request pending review add this document so the approval process can happen faster.
The My Safe Florida Program will reopen to applicants July 1st when new state funding becomes available. Again, we appreciate your contributions to making the My Safe Florida Home Program the most successful of its kind in the nation. With another $200 million in new Program funding, 2024-25 promises to be an exciting year for all of us.
Best wishes for the future.
