🧐 Did you know due to opossums low body temperature (94°F–97°F) it is nearly impossible for them to contract the rabies virus!
The percentage of an opossum contracting rabies in the wild is estimated to be well under 0.1%!!! How cool is that? šŸ˜„

🚨Please read! & think twice before setting glue traps!ā€¼ļø

Glue traps are one of those things you probably don’t think twice about… until you find a bunny stuck in one.

That’s exactly what happened to this little guy.

Michelle and I got him in, and when I saw him, I honestly felt my stomach drop. He was completely exhausted, with glue covering his body and absolutely no way to free himself.

I’ve seen a lot of things come through our doors, but there’s something especially heartbreaking about watching an animal struggle against something it has absolutely no way of understanding.

Michelle and I spent a lot of time carefully working to get the adhesive off of him without causing even more damage. Every little bit has to be done slowly because pulling too hard can take fur and skin with it.

And this is the part I really want people to know: glue traps don’t know what they’re catching.

A mouse might be the animal you intended to catch, but a bunny, bird, snake, lizard, or other small animal can just as easily find it first.

I know glue traps can seem like an easy solution when you have a pest problem. But after seeing what they can do to wildlife firsthand, I really hope you’ll consider a different option.

I would much rather see someone use a method that gives an animal a chance to get away than find another patient like this one stuck and exhausted in a trap.

Thankfully, Michelle and I got to be the people who helped him.

We’ll keep working on getting him cleaned up, hydrated, stabilized, and hopefully back where he belongs.

And if you’ve been following along, sharing our posts, donating, volunteering, or simply telling someone about what we do, thank you. I can’t say it enough: it really does make a difference.

Especially for little guys like this.
