Big milestone for the pool today! After waiting 3 weeks for the new plaster to cure and getting the pH and alkalinity perfectly balanced, I finally added 320 lbs of Salt. Now it’s all about the circulation process before turning on the chlorine generator! 💧✨

Fresh Diamond Brite plaster just filled. the next 14 days are the most critical for a smooth, long-lasting finish! To ensure the plaster cures perfectly, No feet, no automatic cleaners, and no vacuums for the first couple of weeks to avoid leaving permanent tracks. You’ll need to put in some elbow grease—brush the entire surface once a day for the first week, and continue every other day (or daily for best results) through week two to keep plaster dust from scaling. Stay on top of your chemistry by balancing the pH daily during week one and every other day during week two. Finally, keep that salt out of the pool for at least 21 days; wait until the plaster stops demanding acid and your pH stabilizes before adding salt. Consistency now means a beautiful, crystal-clear pool for years to come!

Properly initiating a fresh plaster pool finish is critical to its long-term durability and appearance. The following outlines the key phases for a professional startup, focusing on the essential activities during the initial cure period. First week no chlorine or calcium chloride brushing daily and running the pump continuously 24/7 for the first week to filter out, plaster or any debri that could bind itself to the curing plaster.

Brushing: after thevgirst week at least 2 times a week for the rest of the first month.

Ongoing Testing (First 30 Days):

Monitor pH and Total Alkalinity: Test and adjust every 3-5 days.

Monitor All Other Chemicals: Test and adjust every 7-10 days.

Calcium Hardness: Target 200 - 400 ppm after the first few days.

Stabilizer (CYA): Target 30 - 60 ppm (some recommendations go up to 100 ppm).

Equipment Restrictions:

Wheeled Vacuum: Do not use a wheeled vacuum for 14 days to avoid "wheel marks." Brush-type vacuums can be used immediately.

Automatic Cleaners (Robotic/Built-in): Do not use for 28 days.

Salt System (SWG): Do not add salt or turn on the salt system for 28 days (some recommend up to 6 weeks).

Heater: Do not use until all plaster dust is gone (typically day 4-10).

Langelier Saturation Index (LSI): After 28 days, maintain the LSI between 0.0 and +0.3 for the best finish longevity.

Remember: Always pre-dissolve all chemicals in a bucket of water before adding them to the pool.
