This project became quite a statement piece. As we slowly discussed the client's ideas for the finished project while we worked on it, I began pushing for several other design choices. At a certain point, if you want something to look and feel custom built around you, then it also has to look the part at first glance too.
This bathroom was very dated, covered in nice solid pieces of early quartz the color of a dirty yellow blanket. However, a leak around the toilet released several tiles, ruining the floor. Just wanting a simple remodel, I started small but as extra options like a custom foot niche in the shower for shaving, bringing the heated floors back online, custom lighting for make-up and a giant 6' tub were added, designs got discussed more heavily.
We ended up wrapping the entire two space bathroom with the showers large white tile giving it a very resilient feel but far more dramatic was the deco band. By far my favorite design feature in a bathroom is wrapping the vanities backsplash around the entire space like we did here. Pushing into a herringbone tile pattern with the deco really helped set off the designs otherwise simple modern tile lay out.
