Recent C.P. Kennedy Enterprises project: Custom Gas Fire Pit and Side Table Facelift 🔥
Gas fire pits can be a great investment for any outdoor space and quickly add a warm inviting ambiance to your patio or backyard, but they can also carry a hefty price tag for high quality designs. Instead of spending upwards of $3,000-$4,000 why not DIY! We can upgrade a less expensive option and create a customized one of a kind piece to fit your space and style. Here we added arctic white outdoor stacked stone to the sides, tiled black marble to the top and placed clear reflective fire glass in the center to create this gem! We love being able to still have s’mores with friends and family in a space that wouldn’t be conducive to a traditional wood burning bonfire.
While we miss the crackling of the traditional wood-burning fire pit here are 4 advantages we have found in a gas fire pit.
1. They’re clean - Wood burning fire pits may send up nice flames, but after the fire subsides, you are left with piles of ash to clean up. You eventually would have to make sure to clean out the old ash that piles up, as well as scrub the pit to maintain a clean look (as smoke leaves residue on any bricks or stone that you have lining the pit). Because outside gas fire pits are powered by natural gas, they do not require any of the cleanup that wood-burning fire pits take. Furthermore, you won’t have to deal with messes left behind by coal or coal dust, which can leave black residue on your patio or other outdoor living space.
2. They’re less hassle - You never have to worry about “feeding” a gas fire pit, as you would with a wood-burning fire; you can sit back, relax, and focus on enjoying your outdoor living space and company, as the gas fire pit operates with a flip of the switch and does not need stoking. Furthermore, gas fire pits avoid the smoke and dust that comes with regular fire pits, so no more moving when the wind changes direction.
3. They can be more visually appealing and work in much smaller spaces - Outside gas fire pits do come in a much greater variety of designs and when you do DIY custom the options are endless. Because wood-burning fire pits leave unappealing residue, you often have to sacrifice aesthetics for practicality; however, with a gas fire pit, you can focus on what will simply look best for your outdoor living space. Fire glass, an accessory that comes specifically with gas fire pits, provides a unique look for your outdoor space; you can see flames leaping from glass of different colors and sizes, which provides beautiful refractions of light, especially in the dark. This experience is one that wood-burning fire pits cannot provide; the chic visual appeal of gas fire pits is its ultimate benefit.
4. They’re safer especially in smaller spaces - If you have small children or pets, you don’t have to worry about them coming too close to the fire, as you can control the flame level of your gas fire pit just as you would with a stove or other apparatus. Furthermore, there is no floating burning ash and no pop or burst of sparks or other dangerous aspects that come with a wood-burning fire. Also without the smoke inhalation it is more user friendly for those who have asthma, copd or other lung and breathing heath concerns.
