We pride ourselves in the quality of the firewood we offer. Fully seasoned, native hardwoods available by the cord and half cord - delivered to your home. We can also supply specially prepared firewood to many South Shore restaurants that use wood fired ovens and grills.
Here are some helpful tips when purchasing firewood...
BUY in the SPRING…
Purchase your firewood in the spring when the wood is GREEN. Firewood is less expensive in the spring and when stacked properly, will burn like kiln dried wood during the heating season.
STACK your firewood PROPERLY…
Stack firewood in rows with good sun exposure & air circulation. Stacks should not be covered with a tarp until October.
SEASONED firewood…
Seasoned firewood should be purchased in July and August - then properly stacked, uncovered and be allowed to dry until October. Seasoned firewood will cost more than green firewood.
If you buy in OCTOBER…
Firewood purchased in October and thereafter will be wet. Our firewood is stored in piles 30 feet high and the wood in the middle and bottom of the piles are not exposed to air. When we load a cord for delivery, we put equal selections from the top, side, middle and bottom of the pile. Use the wood at the bottom of the pile last to give it time to dry out. Although this wood is well seasoned, it will be wet. Therefore, BE FOREWARNED firewood purchased in October and later may be difficult to work with. The wood is seasoned but we cannot be responsible for moisture content. If you use a stove, it is best to put "wet" seasoned wood in the stove at night. It will burn slowly and produce good coal embers.
PICK UP at our YARD…
You may come to our yard to pick up your firewood during the burning season. You can pick up as little or as much as you want. We offer 16" (approximate) fireplace and woodstove lengths. Also popular, are smaller pieces for fire pits. Smaller pieces tend to burn better in the fire pits.
