Most homeowners don't think about their electrical panel until something goes wrong.

If your panel was installed before 1990, you're still running 100 amps, or you're adding an EV charger, new appliances, or a home addition, it's worth getting it looked at before it becomes a problem.

We do panel installations and service upgrades throughout Snohomish County. Our team handles everything: permitting, coordinating with your utility company, making sure your breakers are sized correctly, and getting you up to current code. You don't have to manage any of that.

Here's what we take care of:

- New panel installs for homes and commercial buildings
- Replacement of outdated or unsafe panels
- Service upgrades when you need more capacity
- Subpanel installs for shops, garages, or additions
- Circuit organization and load balancing
- Grounding, bonding, and surge protection

We've been doing this work in the Pacific Northwest for over 10 years. Customers in Everett, Marysville, Monroe, Lynnwood, Mukilteo, and the surrounding area know they can count on us to show up, do the job right, and leave the place clean.

Most panel installs run between $4,500 and $7,500.

Have you been having electrical issues with your appliances recently?
It could be that your stove is going out…. Or have you thought about it being your 240 volt outlet behind it?

We had major issues with one of our recent 240 volt outlet repair calls in Snohomish County that was a complete mess. Burnt wires and a burnt out plug.

Culprit? Improperly tightened screws.

The previous “handyman” decided to install the outlet and didn't tighten it down properly.

We got the electric stove working again after we rewired the 240 volt outlet at this property.

This is why hiring a licensed & insured electrician is important nowadays….

The “cheapest solution” should not be your solution to a potential fire hazard. When it comes to your home’s electricity, it should not be cheaped out on…

If you are a home owner in Snohomish County, Washington and in need of help with your 240 volt outlet, give Melby Electric a call at (425) 535-2045 or visit our website today at https://melbyelectric.com. We offer free on-site inspections for a limited time.

If your Marysville home went up in the 80s or 90s, pay attention.

Those years were a building rush. Streets, cul de sacs, whole neighborhoods built faster than anyone could keep track.

Most of those homes? Solid. Good bones.

Still holding up.

But they all share one quiet problem that’s now starting to surface.

Back then, thousands of Marysville houses were outfitted with Challenger electrical panels.

At the time, they were “standard.”

Today, they’re a liability.

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐬𝐤?

Challenger panels have since been recalled and are no longer manufactured.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝?

Because under stress, the breakers tend to melt or overheat instead of tripping.

It’s a safety issue, plain and simple.

But here is the thing that nobody talks about until it’s too late:
Skip out thinking it's all just about safety. This has a lot to do with your wallet and your insurance.

We are seeing more and more Marysville homeowners getting letters from their insurance carriers.

They are being told: "Replace that Challenger panel, or we can’t renew your policy."

Or worse, they go to sell their home, and the buyer’s inspector kills the deal because of the electrical panel.

You don’t want to be forced to fix this during an emergency or a home sale.

That is when you pay top dollar because you are desperate.
We are taking a different approach.

Melby Electric is running a "Marysville Safety Update" campaign.
Since we know exactly which neighborhoods these panels are in, we have simplified the replacement process.

We aren’t coming in to tear apart your house or upsell you on fancy lighting you don’t need.

𝐖𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠:

Remove the obsolete Challenger hazard and replace it with a modern, code-compliant panel system that keeps your family safe and your insurance agent happy.

Because we specialize in this specific swap-out, we can do it faster and cleaner than the guys who are guessing.

𝐃𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐰:

-Go to your garage or hallway.

-Open the gray metal door on your panel.

-Look for the name "Challenger" on the label or the breakers.
If you see it, you need a plan.

Don't wait for the lights to flicker or the insurance letter to arrive.
Click below to snap a photo of your panel and send it to us or give us a call.

We’ll tell you exactly what you’re looking at and give you a flat-rate price to upgrade it.

Ever notice your lights flicker when you run the microwave or the A/C kicks on? It’s one of the most common things we hear about at Melby Electric, and it's easy to just brush it off.
...But that little flicker is often your home's way of telling you something important about your Snohomish County home's electrical system.

So, what could be the cause you may ask?

𝐀𝐧 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐢𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐢𝐭 is one of the most common reasons for flickering lights. If your lights are on the same circuit as an appliance (like your fridge or space heater), a sudden power draw from the appliance can cause a temporary dip in power, resulting in a flicker.

𝐀 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 can happen over time. The wiring in your home, at the outlet, or even in the panel box could be loose. This is a significant problem because a loose connection can generate heat, which can cause a fire.

Y𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐥. If you're in an older home, such as in Marysville, Washington, where 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐬 are common, your panel might not be able to handle the demands of your modern appliances and electronics. This can cause flickering lights, tripped breakers, and other issues.

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬

When money is tight, you really don't have a choice. At Melby Electric, we totally understand it. Look at your flickering light problem as your cars "Check Engine" light. You can only ignore it as long as the car runs. Same goes for your home's electrical.

You don't have to guess what the issue is. If you're dealing with flickering lights and want some peace of mind, Melby Electric's electricians can trace the problem to its source and make sure your home is safe.

𝐈𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞'𝐬 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐥 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐩? 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬 𝐈𝐭 𝐌𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐁𝐞 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧 𝐔𝐩𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞!

Your home's electrical panel is the heart of your electrical needs. It sends power to all your lights, appliances, plugs, and 𝐄𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 to your phone charger!

But like any heart, it can get old and tired. If your home is older, or you have lots of new gadgets, your panel might be struggling to send enough power.

𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐢𝐦 when you turn on other things.
𝐂𝐢𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐢𝐭 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞, especially if you use many things at once. This means the panel is trying to stop too much power from flowing, which is a good thing, but it also means it's overloaded!
𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐦 when you touch them.
You smell something like 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 near your electrical box.
You 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 because you don't have enough plugs.
Your home still uses 𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐟𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐱𝐞𝐬 instead of modern circuit breakers.

These signs aren't just annoying, but also 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐬! An old or overloaded panel can cause problems like short circuits, damage your electronics, and even lead to electrical fires. No one wants that!

Getting a new electrical panel is a smart move. It makes your home much safer because it can handle all the power you need without getting overloaded. It helps your lights stay bright and your appliances run smoothly.

Plus, it gets your home ready for cool new things, like charging electric cars or adding more smart home devices! It can even make your home worth more money.

𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐫 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐡𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐬, 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲! Your safety is the most important thing.

Not sure if your panel is safe or strong enough? Don't wait for a big problem. Call Melby Electric today! We can check your panel and make sure your home's power is safe, strong, and ready for everything you need.
