We had to bring all the plants in to avoid the big freeze and now they think it’s spring time.
We got an amazing shipment in from Hidden Springs Nursery and couldn’t be happier with the quality and vibrance of the plants. Not to mention it looks like a Nimbus 2000!
Quite a bit to do in our little home foodforest. Some of the plants going in are;
-Flying dragon citrus
- Turnbull and Shinko Pear
- Liberty Paducah and Macintosh 🍎
- Gooseberries
- Black Currant
- 2 kinds of French lavender
- catnip
- 7 different blueberries
- German chamomile
- purple sage
- hornbeam ironwood and bald cypress
- immense diversity of wildflowers courtesy of Wild Ones, but especially the Bee Balm!

It’s not a great day to plant today but no better time to plan your garden for the upcoming year.
Adding an insectary of native plants gives beneficial insects 🐞 a home base and habitat.
I like to think of it as an army barracks from which they hunt our gardens for pesky insects.

As little as one queen anne’s lace for example will bring in parasitic wasps and be nearly all the protection tomatoes need. A little guild of natives not only provides year round color from the wildflowers but a vital habitat for our allies and songbirds.
