Gas or electric range? Both can fail, but the warning signs are different. 🔥⚡
Common gas range problems:
• Burners click but will not ignite
• Flames are weak, uneven, or yellow
• The cooktop works, but the oven does not heat
• The oven takes too long to ignite
• You notice an unusual gas odor
These symptoms may involve clogged burner ports, incorrectly positioned burner caps, a failed igniter, spark components, controls, or the oven safety system.
Common electric range problems:
• A surface element will not heat
• The oven does not reach the selected temperature
• Food cooks unevenly
• The control panel displays an error code
• The range trips the circuit breaker
Possible causes include a failed heating element, burner receptacle, temperature sensor, switch, wiring, or electronic control.
Important safety reminder:
If you smell gas, do not try to relight the appliance or operate electrical switches. Leave the building immediately and call 911, the fire department, or your gas utility from a safe location.
If an electric range is sparking, producing a burning smell, or repeatedly tripping the breaker, stop using it until it has been inspected.
