A DONUT ISN’T WORTH A TICKET.

We are just as excited as everyone else that Butter Krisp Diner has reopened. Much like the Chicken Sandwich Craze of late 2019, we are seeing cars lining up down the street for their opportunity to purchase donuts.

The Covington Police Department has received many complaints from businesses and commuters along Business 190 regarding the drive-thru line extending out of the parking lot and into the roadway. That is unfair to commuters and nearby businesses. It is also dangerous.

We have investigated at least one accident that resulted in injuries and have observed numerous close calls.

CPD wishes to remind motorists that several traffic and criminal statutes govern stopping on a roadway, including the following:

LA R.S. 32:141 - Stopping, Standing, or Parking Outside Business or Residence Districts
LA R.S. 32:143 - Stopping, Standing, or Parking Prohibited in Specified Places
LA R.S. 14:97 - Simple Obstruction of a Highway of Commerce

We ask that motorists please be considerate of others. Circle the block, go inside, place an order for pickup, or try again later. The Hot Glazed donuts are made-to-order and will always be Hot when you pick them up.
