Please read this carefully, in the 8 years of doing solar, I have seen homeowners go through great experiences when going solar and horrible experiences as well. The horrible experiences always came down to 2 things; inexperienced or careless consultants misinforming homeowners or the homeowner signing with a small company then never heard from them after the job was done, horrible service post sale. Solar is NOT for everyone, not everyone qualifies. This is why some homeowners do not have good experiences. They get misinformed, lied to by the consultant, or maybe the consultant was not properly trained. Many times the consultants will know solar is not a good fit for the homeowner but the consultant will sign up the homeowner anyway just to get their pay and run. These last two years since I have been back in the RGV, I have seen homeowners being quoted exaggerated amounts for a system of low quality. Panels installed under tree shade. Panels installed on roofs in bad condition. Being signed up when the homeowner may not qualify for the Federal Tax Credit. It is a shame that this is going on but solar is just like any other industry, there are good apples and bad apples out there.
