INTERN SPOTLIGHT | Katelynn Guzman

At The Warren Group Architects, we believe the best way to learn architecture is by experiencing it firsthand. For more than two decades, our firm has been committed to creating thoughtful, innovative spaces that serve the needs of our clients and communities throughout the Rio Grande Valley and beyond.

Our work encompasses a diverse range of projects, allowing our team to bring together creativity, technical expertise, and collaboration to transform ideas into meaningful spaces. We believe that same approach to learning is essential for the next generation of professionals. Our internship program provides students with the opportunity to work alongside our team, contribute to active projects, and gain firsthand experience with the many facets of architectural practice from design and documentation to coordination, problem solving, and client collaboration.

This week, we are pleased to introduce Katelynn Guzman, a third-year architecture student at Texas A&M University, who has joined our team as an Architecture Intern.

Katelynn’s interest in architecture began with the influence of her aunt, who introduced her to the profession while she was in high school. Her interest continued to grow after attending Camp ARCH at Texas A&M, where she had the opportunity to experience the field of architecture firsthand and gain a better understanding of what it means to pursue architecture as a career.

Katelynn is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in architecture, with plans to graduate in 2028 and continue her education through a master’s degree in architecture. Looking ahead, she hopes to build a career focused on educational architecture and design spaces that create meaningful opportunities within her community.

Her vision extends beyond the design of a building. She hopes to contribute to projects that positively impact the lives of others, including schools, healthcare facilities, sports complexes, and community spaces.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Through her internship at The Warren Group Architects, Katelynn has gained a broader understanding of the architectural profession and the many technical components involved in bringing a project from concept to completion.

While her academic experience has provided a strong foundation in architectural design, her internship has allowed her to explore the day-to-day operations of a professional practice, including Revit and AutoCAD, architectural detailing, floor schedules, plan development, and project coordination.

One of the most rewarding aspects of Katelynn’s internship has been the opportunity to contribute to active projects and gain firsthand experience with the documentation process. Working alongside our team, she has developed her skills in plan development, architectural detailing, Revit, and AutoCAD, while gaining a greater appreciation for the coordination and attention to detail required to bring a project from concept to completion.

"It’s rewarding to see a project develop from start to finish and know that I had the opportunity to contribute along the way."

For Katelynn, one of the most rewarding aspects of her internship has been the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work and see her skills continue to develop through hands-on experience.

The Warren Group Experience

When asked to describe the culture at The Warren Group Architects, Katelynn chose three words:

Open. Collaborative. Passionate.

She particularly values the collaborative nature of the team and the willingness of her colleagues to provide guidance, answer questions, and share their knowledge.

Her experience has given her an environment where she feels comfortable asking questions, learning from others, and taking on new responsibilities. The open studio atmosphere has also provided a familiar connection to her experiences as an architecture student at Texas A&M.

At The Warren Group Architects, we are proud to create opportunities for emerging professionals to learn, contribute, and grow as they begin their careers in architecture.

Getting to Know Katelynn

Outside of architecture, Katelynn brings a variety of creative interests and experiences to the team.

🏊 Competitive Swimming: Katelynn competed in swimming for seven years.

🚀 NASA Experience: While in high school, she participated in a NASA program and had the opportunity to visit Johnson Space Center.

🎨 Creative Pursuits: She enjoys drawing on her iPad and embroidering clothing and bags.

🎶 Favorite Band: Cibo Matto.

🥤 Favorite Energy Drink: Peach Mango Green Tea Celsius.

Katelynn also has a passion for travel and hopes to visit Okinawa, Japan, where she would love to experience the beaches and visit the aquarium to see her favorite animal, the whale shark.

One of her favorite architectural projects is also closer to home the Pharr Natatorium. Having had the opportunity to review its floor plans in our office, Katelynn appreciates both its architectural design and the opportunities the facility provides to students throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

Looking Ahead

Katelynn’s experience at The Warren Group Architects is giving her an opportunity to see architecture from a broader perspective beyond the design process and into the technical, collaborative, and professional aspects that bring projects to life.

We are pleased to have Katelynn as part of The Warren Group Architects and look forward to supporting her continued growth as she develops her skills, expands her experience, and prepares for her future career in architecture.

INTERN SPOTLIGHT | Victoria Gonzalez

At The Warren Group Architects, we are proud to provide emerging architects with opportunities to gain real-world experience, explore their interests, and learn alongside professionals in the field. Each student brings a unique perspective, and we enjoy watching them grow as they experience the many different aspects of architectural practice.

This summer, we are excited to welcome Victoria Gonzalez to The Warren Group Architects as our 2026 Summer Architecture Intern.

Victoria is a 20-year-old student at Texas A&M University, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Architecture with dual minors in Architectural Fabrication and Design and Leadership in the Design and Construction Professions. She is expected to graduate in May 2028.

Alongside her studies, Victoria stays actively involved on campus and within the architecture community. She is a member of Aggie Habitat for Humanity, AIAS, Destino, and Texas A&M’s Integrated Path to Architectural Licensure (IPAL) program. She also serves as Vice President of the National Honor Society of Texas A&M University and is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and a Helping Hands Scholar.

Inspired to Make an Impact

Victoria’s passion for architecture extends beyond simply designing buildings. She is interested in the opportunities architecture provides to create meaningful spaces and make a positive impact on the people and communities who use them.

Her decision to join The Warren Group Architects was influenced by the firm’s accomplishments and the work it has contributed to communities throughout the region.

“I wanted to intern with The Warren Group Architects because I was truly inspired by the firm’s accomplishments. Learning about its projects and the purpose behind its work really captured my attention.”

As an aspiring female architect, Victoria was also drawn to TWG’s commitment to supporting and empowering women within the profession.

“Seeing Laura Nassri Warren lead such a successful architectural firm has made her a significant role model for me. Her leadership and achievements have motivated me to pursue this opportunity, learn from her experiences, and grow as a future architect.”

Experiencing Architecture in Practice

Throughout her summer internship, Victoria has had the opportunity to step outside the classroom and experience the realities of working in an architectural practice.

By working alongside experienced project managers, she has gained insight into the collaboration, communication, and problem-solving that take place throughout the life of a project. Her experience has allowed her to see how the concepts and skills she is developing at Texas A&M translate into professional practice.

For Victoria, being part of the TWG team has also provided an opportunity to learn from professionals with different areas of experience and gain a better understanding of the path ahead as she works toward becoming a licensed architect.

More Than an Internship

Victoria’s involvement in the IPAL program reflects her commitment to pursuing the profession beyond graduation. By beginning to explore the path toward architectural licensure while still in school, she is gaining an early understanding of the education, experience, and dedication required to become a licensed architect.

Her leadership and involvement outside the classroom further demonstrate her commitment to personal and professional growth.

At TWG, we believe experiences like these can help students build confidence, discover their strengths, and develop a clearer vision for their future in architecture.

Looking Toward the Future

Victoria has enjoyed becoming part of the TWG team during the summer of 2026 and experiencing the firm's collaborative culture by working side by side with experienced project managers.
