Sprinkler Systems of South Texas is looking for an Irrigation Technician to join our fast growing sprinkler installation and repair company. Our ideal candidate has experience in landscape irrigation and is comfortable working independently.

Candidates must have a strong work ethic and great communication skills. Irrigation technicians perform routine labor associated with irrigation management, including digging, pipe repair, valve replacement, and small equipment operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Repair underground sprinkler and drip systems
• Locate and repair/replace malfunctioning valves
• Troubleshoot electrical issues
• Program controllers and adjust settings
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
• MUST HAVE A VALID TEXAS DRIVERS LICENSE;
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and repeatedly kneel/bend/stoop for extended periods of time;
• Capable of working in high heat indexes;
• Dependable with great communication skills;
• Always appear and act professional at each job site;
• Provide excellent customer service;
• Complete all jobs to the standard and expectations of Sprinkler Systems of South Texas
• Must speak English

Qualifications:
• Irrigation technician license preferred
• Three years of experience in irrigation repairs preferred

Compensation
• Compensation based on experience
• Quarterly bonuses based on performance

Experience
• Licensed Irrigation Technician or minimum of 2 years irrigation experience
Responsibilities
• Install commercial and residential irrigation and drip systems
• Diagnose and troubleshoot irrigation systems
• Locate existing zones and valves
• Measure and cut pipe, install valves, and control systems
• Operate machinery such as trenchers
• Install landscaping: sod, dirt work, trees, plants, landscape fabric, and rock
• Manually dig trenches with hand tools
• Maintain accurate logs and records of work performed
• Maintain inventory supplies and equipment
• May drive a company supplied truck to several customers each day
• Communicate with the customer to provide details of the services provided
Requirements
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Able to read, write and speak English
• Able to withstand outdoor working conditions
• Reliable transportation for extensive driving throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

{7:10am} Good morning, it's going to be a hot one! A heat advisory will go into effect today in the upper valley. "Feels like" temperatures will be between 111-116 degrees. Stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity and do not leave children and pets inside vehicles.

While working on some broken sprinklers we noticed that these valves didn’t have the proper wire connectors. Instead of wire connectors, the previous installer/service company used electrical tape. Although it wasn’t part of the original scope of work, the homeowner asked us to add the wire connectors. Always use grease wire connectors for any direct burial application to avoid electrical shorts or malfunctions.

Here are before and after pictures of a landscape project we did this week. Our team cleaned out w**ds in the flower beds, removed 4-6” of dirt, and installed a w**d barrier with a thick layer of red mulch. We also ran new drip hoses and repaired issues with the 18 zone sprinkler system.
