🍇 Lab Update: Cucumbers Wrap Up + Quick Concord Grape Container Fix! 🛠️

Good evening Techy Green Thumbs! Out in the lab surveying tonight and captured another plantain drop while reflecting on our season transition. Our spring cucumbers have officially wrapped up, making way for our second growing season right here in the RGV!
When my wooden Concord grape container started splitting apart, good old-fashioned bungee cords came to the rescue to hold it together through December until we transplant into brand-new clay pots this January.

🌶️ Beat the Heat: The Front Yard Pepper Protocol Summer Update! ☀️
Hi Techy Green Thumbs! Taking a quick lunch break at home to give you a live look at how our experimental Front Yard Pepper Protocol is holding up against the intense summer heat!
When we put these two bell peppers and two jalapeños in the ground, the goal was to test their limits and see if we could extend their productivity through the harshest months of the South Texas sun. Today, we've got a mixed bag with some stunted growth on one side and beautiful, lush growth on the other—but the headline news is that ALL FOUR plants are successfully producing peppers!
The experiment doesn't stop here. We are going to push them straight through Fall, then carefully pot them up for the winter to protect them from the frost, setting us up to replant established, high-yielding producers next spring.

Before I was building custom indoor seed-starting stations in the TGT Lab, radio engineering was my forte—it has been a major influence in my DNA for well over 30 years! Remember back in late March when we set up our shade cloth experiment to see if we could protect our plants from the brutal 100°F+ RGV summer heat? We have a major update for you!
We just checked in on the progress of both our sweet peppers and jalapeños. While a few of the pepper plants are a little shorter than their neighbors, they are defying the elements and putting out a solid, decent amount of fruit! 🌶️✨
But there is a bigger method to the madness here. The real goal of using controlled shade isn't just summer survival—it’s about extending their lifespan. Since we in the Rio Grande Valley don't typically get a freeze until January, keeping these plants thriving through the summer peak means we could potentially extend our harvest deep into December and even January!
Imagine picking fresh, homegrown jalapeños for the winter holidays. ❄️🔥
