Why do I have low water pressure throughout my entire home after the plumber just left?

It’s possible that the main shut off valve was not turned on all the way before the plumber left. You can try turning the valve back on, but it’s also possible that the valve will not open all the way because it is old. I recommend calling the plumber back to see what the company will do to help in this low water pressure situation.

How can I get better at plumbing?

One way to get better at plumbing is to understand that all of the plumbing pieces you can use go together sort of like a puzzle. Once you learn all of those parts, it’s easier to see how they can fit together in different scenarios. In a sense, plumbing is like a puzzle.

What should the pressure on my house be?

It’s important to check the pressure on your home’s water system if you are on city or municipal water. The water pressure on your home should be around 60-70 PSI and it should not exceed 80 PSI. A pressure reducing valve helps limit the high pressure coming from the city water system.

What is an anode rod?

An anode rod is a sacrificial rod that is inside of your tanked water heater. What it does is attract the corrosion to itself, so the tank does not corrode. Once the anode rod completely dissolves over time, it needs to be replaced. If the anode rod is not replaced, the water heater tank will start to corrode. The anode rod should be replaced about every two years, but it depends on the exact water heater model that you have.

Why do I have low water pressure?

If you have low water pressure after a tanked water heater was installed, I would check any filtration systems that may be lowering the volume of water that you are getting throughout the home. Filling a tanked water heater may prematurely clog a filtration system.
