Puccio Safety Tip: The Big Appliance Rule. 🔌 Never plug major, high-current appliances (like refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, or window A/C units) into a shared outlet or an extension cord/power strip. These devices draw too much power and can cause overloading which is a fire hazard.

Need an outlet closer to your appliance? Puccio Electric can install a safe, dedicated circuit for your peace of mind.

Puccio Safety Tip: Check the Expiration Date! ⏰ Smoke alarms and Carbon Monoxide (CO) detectors do not last forever! Their internal sensors degrade over time.

Smoke Detectors: Replace every 10 years.

CO Detectors: Replace every 7 years.

Check the manufacture date on the back! If they are expired or you have battery-only, call us to install hardwired, interconnected units for maximum safety.

Puccio Safety Tip: Tired of Tripping Breakers?

A breaker should not trip constantly. If you're frequently resetting the same breaker, it means the circuit is overloaded. This is a sign your home needs a service upgrade to handle your power demands safely. Call us to discuss your options.

Puccio Safety Tip: Extension Cords are Temporary! 🔌

We often see extension cords being used as permanent power strips. They are designed for short-term use and can easily overheat when used long-term. Need more outlets? Call us to discuss safe outlet installation

🎄 Deck the Halls... Safely!
Ready to bring the sparkle this season? Before you plug in that giant inflatable Santa or string up a thousand lights, we want you to stay safe! Electrical hazards spike during the holidays. Here are some safety tips to keep your house bright, not burnt!

⚠️ Inspect: Before plugging in last year's lights, check every strand. If you find damage, toss them out. Damaged lights are a major fire risk!
🔌 Don't Overload Outlets: This is the #1 mistake! Never plug more than the manufacturer recommends (usually no more than three standard incandescent strands linked together). Use multiple outlets or consider LED lights, which draw far less power.
💧 Use GFCIs Outdoors: All outdoor lights and decorations must be plugged into an outlet protected by a GFCI. If water gets in, a GFCI trips the circuit immediately, preventing shock and fire. If you don't have one, it's a critical safety upgrade!
🚫 Indoor vs. Outdoor: Never use indoor-rated lights outside! They aren't built to withstand moisture, sun, or temperature changes and can quickly become hazardous. Always check the tag.
⏰ Unplug When Away: Simple but crucial: Turn off all holiday lights before leaving the house or going to bed. Use a timer or a smart plug to make this easier!

Shine bright, stay safe, and have a wonderful holiday season!
Got an older home or need a GFCI installed outside? Give us a call, we'll get your electrical system ready for the holiday load! 781-391-6057

🍗 Don't Let a Power Trip Ruin the Turkey Trip!
Thanksgiving is all about family, food, and maybe causes just a little too much power drawn in the kitchen! 😅

With ovens running hot, mixers whipping, and appliances buzzing, the kitchen electrical system is working overtime!

Here's a quick tip from our family to yours:
Try to plug high-power appliances (like deep fryers or multiple slow cookers) into different circuits if possible to prevent an overload and a potential breaker trip. Nobody wants a cold mashed potato disaster!

We hope your day is filled with good food and great company (and perfectly functioning electricity)! Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours! 🧡

What is an Arc Fault? (And Why Your Electrician Loves Them!) 💙💡
You’ve seen that label on your breaker panel: AFCI or Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter. But what do they actually do?

Think of it this way: a standard breaker prevents overloading (too much current). An AFCI is smarter—it prevents the fire that loose, chewed, or damaged wiring can cause!

How they help you:
1. Safety Hero: AFCI breakers detect dangerous electrical arcs (mini sparks inside your walls) that can start a fire before your regular breaker would ever trip.
2. Home Protection: They're required in bedrooms and common living areas of newer homes because they offer advanced protection against wiring issues that might not be visible.
3. Peace of Mind: Knowing these critical devices are watching over your home's electrical system while you sleep is the best feeling!

If you have an older panel, ask us about upgrading to AFCI and GFCI protection! It's one of the most important safety upgrades you can make.

Is Your Home Trying to send you a signal?

Flickering lights are annoying but sometimes they're a warning sign!

Puccio Electric is here to demystify the flicker and tell you when it’s time to call the professionals!

The Simple Fix (DIY Check):
• The Bulb: Is the bulb loose? Turn off the switch, tighten it up, and see if the problem goes away. Sometimes, it’s just that simple!
• The Switch: Try the same bulb in a different fixture. If it still flickers, the bulb is bad. If it works fine, the issue might be with the switch or the fixture itself.

The Serious Sign (Time to Call Us):
• Multiple Lights: If lights in multiple rooms or circuits are flickering, the problem is bigger than one bulb. This can signal loose wiring in your electrical panel or service connection.
• It Smells: If you notice a faint burning odor coming from an outlet or light fixture, STOP using it immediately and call us!
• It's Intermittent: If the flickering only happens when a large appliance (like your AC or dryer) turns on, your circuit might be overloaded and needs a check-up.

Don't ignore the flicker—it could save you a future headache (or worse!)
