One of the things that makes our community so special is seeing how everyone comes together when people need it most. During the East Evans Creek Fire, we've witnessed neighbors helping neighbors, firefighters working tirelessly day and night, and countless volunteers stepping up however they can. We live just minutes from the fire ourselves and have seen the incredible response firsthand. We've already inspected one property where the well equipment was lost, and while the well system suffered significant damage, we were incredibly grateful to see that the home itself was still standing.
If your home was impacted and your well equipmen was damaged or destroyed, here are a few important steps:
Contact your insurance company first and have an adjuster document the damage before repairs begin whenever possible.
Once your insurance company has completed its inspection or authorized repairs, we're here to help assess your well system and get your water service restored.
Financial Assistance May Be Available
The Oregon Water Resources Department's Well Abandonment, Repair, and Replacement Fund (WARRF) provides financial assistance to qualifying low- to moderate-income homeowners experiencing well water supply issues. The Grant helps homeowners whose wells were damaged or destroyed by wildfire.

Wildfire Reminder for Well Owners
Even if your well appears undamaged, wildfire can affect your water system. After a wildfire, it's recommended to:
Inspect exposed well equipment for heat or fire damage.
Have the well and plumbing evaluated before returning it to service.
Disinfect the well if recommended after repairs or if contamination is suspected.
Test your water quality before drinking if the well or surrounding area was impacted by the fire.
