Job Story: Kalahari Resort
Monster Water Park...Monster Modular Braces

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions, known for having the biggest indoor water parks in America, is building a fifth resort in Virginia. The huge 1.4 million square foot resort includes 907 guest rooms and a 175,000-square-foot indoor water park with various attractions, along with outdoor pools spanning 10 acres.

HENSEL PHELPS is the general contractor and they have chosen Tindall Corporation Corporation for the precast walls at the water park. The 90' stacked walls are so tall that ONLY the Modular Braces from SureBuilt are right for the job.

E & B Erectors will lift and brace the stacked panels. The braces will have kickers going back to the foundation and Helical Ground Anchors (HGAs) for ground stability. The high-capacity Modular Brace design will reduce the number of braces needed for most of the water park panels.

Of course, fewer braces also reduces the amount of panel hardware, job site handling, brace attachments and dismantling time... lots more savings!

For example, steel imports from China have a 25% tariff (Section 232) clean fabricated construction items imports from China have a 35% tariff (Section 301), effective March 12.

- Slab Bolster is used to support rebar and mesh at the proper elevation in concrete slabs. Legs are spaced 5” on-center and spot-welded to resist bending. When a runner is spot-welded along the full length it becomes Slab Bolster Upper.

- Continuous High Chair is also used to support rebar and mesh at the proper elevation in concrete slabs. Legs are spaced 7-3/4” on-center and spot-welded to resist bending. When a runner is spot-welded along the full length it becomes Continuous High Chair Upper.

- Beam Bolster is used to support rebar at the proper elevation in beam form soffits. Legs are spaced 2-1/2” on-center and spot-welded to resist bending. When a runner is spot-welded along the full length it becomes Beam Bolster Upper.
