Reposted When the interior of this Victorian single was remodeled in 1984, it was revealed that the home is almost entirely constructed of red pine bargeboard. Bargeboard was a poor man's construction material commonly found in old shotgun homes near the river. Unpowered wooden barges brought cargo down and since it was impossible to get them back upriver again to be reused, they were dismantled and the lumber was sold on the levee.

IMPORTANT NOTICE .........This event rescheduled to Sunday Oct 22 same time and place. Sorry for this last-minute glitch! This Sunday...VOLUNTEERS NEEDED...if you have ever wanted to be part of MHI's Preservation Posse this Sunday is the day. A friend of Memphis Heritage has donated some really cool stuff that we need to pick up and move to the Heritage Building Supply warehouse. We are meeting at Howard Hall 2282 Madison at 1:30pm this Sunday Oct. 1 and caravanning to the pick-up location and then take it to HBS. If you have not seen the HBS warehouse it is amazingly full of everything you need for this old house! Respond to this post if you can help us. You only need some gloves and muscle. We would love to have you! Thanks
