When the Catholic Diocese of Memphis in Tennessee and one of the most beautiful places of worship, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Memphis, needs our help, we respond immediately. We are honored to restore the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
Our beloved church last Sunday morning shortly after the fire was extinguished.
Once the smoke cleared and the damage was assessed, it became apparent that on Holy Trinity Sunday, God was protecting His church as the damage could easily have been much worse. The marble surrounding the altar and the crucifix, prevented the fire from spreading beyond the back of the high altar.
There are so many to thank for their quick response, ongoing assistance, and the gift of their time. Thank you to Miller Protection for the initial alert Sunday morning at 5:45am. Thank you to the dedicated men at the Memphis Fire Department who arrived quickly and extinguished the flames. Thank you to Paul Davis Restoration for their rapid arrival shortly after 7am to begin the clean-up process. Thank you to Priority Security for helping to secure the building and to Temperature Inc. for prompt technical assistance.
Thank you to Seminarians Zoilo Perez and Caleb Johnson, and Cathedral parishioners who gave up their Sunday afternoon to assist in moving the items needed for daily Mass to the Cathedral Center Conference Room.
And a very big thank you to Fr. Mike and Fr. Kacper, Tony Benson, and Steve Peterson for their untiring leadership this week.
As Bishop Talley has taught us to say, "All Glory to God!"
