A clean job is a happy job. ✅

That’s something a friend told me years ago and for whatever reason, it stuck.

A little extra time cleaning, organizing and eliminating trip hazards makes for a better workday for everyone involved, and it definitely doesn’t hurt when inspection morning rolls around.

Today we were ready. 👊🏻

The Fire Department was kind enough to coordinate our fire sprinkler head inspection and Final Fire inspection for the same morning, which we greatly appreciated.

✅ Fire sprinkler inspection PASSED
✅ Final Fire inspection PASSED

Huge thanks to everyone involved for helping us keep things moving smoothly.

Clean site. Two more boxes checked. One step closer to the finish line!

Can’t let everyone else have all the fun. 🔨

Working on custom white oak display shelves for one of our feature walls.

🪵 White oak shelving with iron-on white oak edge banding
🔧 Routing the edge banding flush — special thanks to a friend for letting me borrow the router!
🪚 Final sanding to get everything cleaned up and ready for finish
✨ Next stop is back to the job site where our painter will take over with a clear coat

Meanwhile, we’ve got brackets being installed on site so when these come back, we can get right into installation.

A lot happening behind the scenes as we work through these final details.

Sometimes it’s nice to put the coordination hat down for a minute and get back to building. 🤙🏻

Getting close. ⚡️🔨

Another walkthrough as we keep pushing through the final stretch:

⚡️ Electrical is about 98% complete
🪚 Floating shelves going up today
✅ Baseboards complete & painted
🗄️ Cabinetry installed with just a handful of pieces left to paint
🎨 Paint work is nearly wrapped up
🚰 Faucets and additional finish work coming by the end of the week

Spent some time after yesterday’s installs getting the site cleaned, organized, and opened back up so everyone has room to work. A clean job is a happy job. Keeping things dialed in makes the finish phase move that much smoother.

We’re also getting close on inspections officially cleared with the water district, with final Fire and City inspections next on the list. ✅

Still plenty happening with cabinet trim, finish details, shelving and final installations, but we’re pushing hard and making progress every day.

The finish line is getting closer. 💪🏻

A little different from our usual progress updates — today we’re going underground.

This unit was previously a restaurant, which means an existing grease interceptor needed to be addressed as part of the transition to its new use.

Working alongside EMWD and our plumbing subcontractor, we were able to establish a plan for temporary abandonment while preserving the interceptor for potential future use.

🔧 Existing drainage modified to run directly through the interceptor
🪨 Filling with approved media for temporary abandonment
✅ Plumbing remains intact should a future restaurant ever need the system again
🔍 Final check inside to make sure the new plumbing is secure and everything is clean and clear before bringing the media up to pipe level for inspection

Once inspected and approved, we’ll complete the remaining fill and close it up.

This wasn’t part of our original scope, but it’s one of those requirements that came to light as the project progressed. We stepped in, coordinated with the appropriate parties, and found a solution that keeps everything moving forward. ✅

Starting to feel a heartbeat. 🫀⚡️

Wrapping up another Friday. Last one out so I could walk the job, take some notes, get everything organized, and line up our next moves.

This space is really starting to come alive.

- Lighting on and beautiful colors coming together
- New mural on the back wall
- All three kilns installed and almost ready for use
- Shelving installation underway
- Existing cabinetry and pieces from the previous studio starting to find their new homes

Next up: cabinetry, baseboards, workstations, finish details, and final electrical trim-out.

After months of seeing everything in plans, measurements, framing, wires, drywall and dust… it’s pretty cool watching this place develop a heartbeat of its own.

Moving along smoothly. Great way to end the week. 🤙🏻

Little by little, it’s all lighting up. ⚡️💡

• We officially have working light fixtures!
• Job site cleaned up, organized & ready for our fire sprinkler contractor to do his thing
• Electrical trim-out & finish work moving right along
• Dialing in final field measurements and layouts for shelving & fixtures
• Getting closer to bringing in furniture and items from the previous location
• More finishing touches every day

The next few weeks are going to be fun — time to really start moving & grooving. 🔨⚡️

As we continue the transition into the finish phase, the vision for this space is coming to life 😎

💡 Light fixture installation is officially underway. Our electrician is hanging fixtures now, and next we’ll use lasers to dial in each elevation before trimming the suspension cables for a clean, consistent finish.

🔊 Pendant speakers are installed and ready for final wiring next week, along with the in-ceiling speakers throughout the T-bar areas.

✅ T-bar ceilings are complete and passed inspection.

🚒 Our fire sprinkler contractor is scheduled early this week so we can complete final adjustments and move into our fire inspection.

⚡ Outlets, switches, receptacles, exit signs, and all the finishing electrical details are starting to come together. Every new piece adds a little more character to the space.

Lots of progress in the works, with plenty more milestones still to come.

Another quick walk-through as this project continues to take shape. 👏

Flooring is complete and the paint colors are finally making their way onto the walls. (The black open ceiling was completed earlier and is already tying everything together nicely.)

We’ve already masked off the new flooring with Ram Board and other protective materials so we can keep pushing forward without risking the finished surfaces.

T-bar ceilings have been patched back in and are being finalized for code compliance, while our electrician is back on site installing track lighting and the remaining high-ceiling fixtures.

Our fire sprinkler contractor also stopped by today to verify measurements and dial in the remaining finish work needed before final inspections.

Every week brings another milestone, and it’s exciting to watch this space transform from a set of plans into a finished project.

Build forever. ⚒️

That’s a wrap. ✅

The final sections of fire-rated scrim paper are officially installed.

It’s satisfying to finally see all of the insulation covered in the main areas and the open-ceiling concept really starting to come to life. The job site is cleaned up, the drywall crew has wrapped up their sanding, and we’re officially ready for our painter to get started Monday morning. 🎨

Another productive week in the books, another milestone checked off, and we’re one step closer to the finished product. Looking forward to seeing this space transform over the next few weeks.

Build forever.

Four hours on a scissor lift… in 22 seconds.

Installing that fire-rated scrim paper isn’t the flashiest part of a project, but it’s one of those details that makes a huge difference in the finished space.

Progress is progress. On to the next section :)

Build forever.
