Informational Post

People reach out to us all the time asking us how do I get a lush green lawn?

The answer: cultural practices, along with fertilization and w**d control.

What a lawn needs:
-Water
-Fertilization
-Correct mowing height
-Core Aeration
-Dethatching
-Overseeding
-W**d control(Can be spot spraying to help reduce pesticide use)
-At least 6” of topsoil in our sandy region to help hold moisture

Cultural Practices:
-Water. In our sandy region you need to water daily as the moisture soaks in very quick. The lawn below sees water every morning for 30 minutes.
-Mowing at a height greater than 3”, the lawn below is cut at 3.75”-4” May-Mid September. This helps grow the roots deeper and allow for your lawn to stay greener and resilient to drought/heat stress.
-Bagging and not bagging, bagging in spring and fall is great. Mowing without a bagger every 2-3 cuts and then followed by a bagged mow helps a ton. Giving it nutrients and natural fertilizer.
-Core Aeration, helps compact soil grow grass and roots reach water and nutrients easier to thicken the lawn.
-Dethatching. Most people think it comes from not bagging there lawn or mulching it. That is false, that all breaks down and becomes nutrients. It’s a natural process by the grass. Dethatching in spring or fall helps reduce the thatch layer allowing nutrients to reach the soil and soak in.
-Overseeding. This helps thicken your lawn. Most quality lawns you see are overseeded often.
-W**d Control. W**ds can over take a lawn. Pesticides help, having the right amount for what you need can help reduce pesticide use. You will not see results you want without w**d control.

Topsoil: Most lawns are thin and need 6” of topsoil under neath. The sandy region here is bad. Depending on your homes backfill after build completion, you may not have enough topsoil and a beach may be below your grass. This is causing most of your problems.
When we are called to fix a lawn we tear out the lawn 6-10” down and replace with topsoil and seed/sod the area. This will change your lawn for the future and enhance your home!

-Be able to back up 20ft trailers easily

Fertilization Tech-$25/hr+
-2+ years experience in turf care
-Must have WI Pesticide Applicator License
-High understanding of turf care
-Has experience with a z spray
-Basic understanding of a truck
-Be able to back up 25ft trailers easily

Both positions transition into winter work tasks
-Commercial/residential snow removal
-Tractor w/blower operation
-Plow truck
-Salt truck
-Sidewalk crews with stand on equipment
-Skid steer operation
-We also do maintenance all winter long. Mechanical knowledge or willing to learn is preferred

‼️Insane Transformations Make The Biggest Difference!

Even the smallest landscape beds can make the biggest differences!

These two jobs for the past couple weeks have been very satisfying. Blake mulch to compliment and make a White House pop is one of the most satisfying things.

🌱Within these landscape beds are low maintenance perennials and shrubs. Some flower in the spring and some offer green all year round. These designs worked with the customers ideas and our insights, to create a space for all to admire.
