Not every exterior project comes with a dramatic before & after but sometimes the biggest improvements are the ones you can’t immediately see. 🏠❄️
This homeowner has been dealing with significant ice damming during Wisconsin winters. While ice dams aren’t always 100% preventable, there are major contributing factors we can address, starting with proper attic ventilation.
The home already had a ridge vent for exhaust, but without enough soffit ventilation providing fresh intake air, the ventilation system wasn’t able to work the way it should.
For this project, we:
🔨 Cut in additional soffit ventilation channels to improve airflow
🏠 Removed the existing wood soffit covers and installed maintenance-free aluminum soffit
✨ Finished everything with new aluminum fascia
🍂 Cleaned out gutters that were packed with debris from the surrounding trees
💧 Installed gutter guards to help keep water flowing properly year-round
Why do the gutters matter? Clogged gutters can contribute to ice buildup along the roofline, making an already challenging winter problem even worse.
This may look like a “small” project from the outside, but the improvements are HUGE! Better airflow, better drainage, less maintenance, and a home that’s better prepared for winter.
Sometimes it’s not about changing how your home looks, it’s about improving how your home works. 💪
