Recent Kitchen Redesign: Making the Most of What You Have

Here's a kitchen redesign I completed recently. This project came with specific constraints—both the stove and sink locations had to remain exactly where they were. This meant the new layout needed to work around these fixed points rather than starting from scratch.

Despite these limitations, we were able to shift the fridge to a better spot, open up the space, and add a large island to improve both the flow and function of the kitchen. These might sound like simple changes on paper, but they make a significant difference in how the kitchen feels and works in real life.

Working on a small ADU design right now (~450 sqft).

I always enjoy these smaller layouts because every inch matters. You really have to think through how the space flows — where things land, how it feels to move through it, and how to make it feel bigger than it actually is.

This one has a simple open kitchen/living area, a full bath, laundry tucked into the hall, and a private bedroom. Nothing flashy — just clean, efficient, and comfortable.

Sometimes simple done right is the goal.
