Latest Health Update: It's been a while since I put out a health update, so I thought I would share what's been happening lately. To sum it up before I get started, I am fine.
I went to see the doctor a few weeks ago and all my blood levels have finally either reached normal or are rapidly headed that way. My appetite has finally come back to normal as well, sort of speak, as I've gained a few pounds lately. The nausea I have been experiencing is still there, but far less frequent and far less intense.
My platelet count has been extremely low. They should be somewhere around 150,000 and have been in the low 40,000 range for months. They've increased to around 86,000 in the last two weeks, and are expected to keep increasing.
They removed my trusty PIC line that I have had since August of last year and I've even been taken off of some oral medications in the last few weeks. I am no longer a patient of Home Health. (A big thank you to Hailey Upchurch throughout all of this for her help). All in all, my doctors are extremely excited about where I am and more importantly, the direction I am heading.
So, where from here? There is always a chance it comes back, so I will be on some form of chemotherapy maintenance program for a while to help protect from that. I go back to the doctor in about three weeks, and if everything is as expected, I will have my immunizations and my last breathing treatment, as well as come off a few more meds. Then, it's katy-bar the door, because here I come.
On a more serious note, I have also been given the chance to talk with more than one person in Mississippi that is experiencing a similar situation that I have, to give them advice, but more importantly, friendship and an understanding shoulder to lean on. It is something that I have gotten a lot of gratification from. I try never to leave a conversation without telling them how God and prayer are the real reason I am doing as well as I am. There's not a doubt in my mind.
As a community, there are far more people here and in the surrounding areas that are facing those same fears. I've spoken to people from Kosciusko, Starkville, Tupelo, the coastal areas, and more. So please, as I transition to a much better place, and need less and less healing, remember those that are just starting their journey, whether you know about it or not.
