It's been a busy summer at ALHS between getting food plots ready, maintaining properties and clearing paths for new and old trail systems for clients. We recently did a lot clearing project for a client with our forestry mulcher. I think it's safe to say the owner and his four-legged 🐾 companion were happy with the work.

As we transition into fall we still have some slots open before hunting season starts. If you're looking to have trails cleared or new shooting lanes put in give us a call and we would be happy to discuss the project with you.

Did you know ALHS does small scale logging and land clearing projects? We recently completed clearing trees from three areas for a client for a future cabin location and two food plots. The tops are left for the time being to provide browse for the deer. We piled the wood for easy firewood cutting, and sorted log material for the landowner to sell. We will be back to remove stumps, mulch the remaining tops and brush and level the sites in a couple months.

An ALHS brassica plot planted the end of July is looking excellent. Brassicas tend to do better when you rotate them in and out of areas. This area was void of any brassicas for a few years and it's showing. A strip of clover with oats on top is planted along the woods line and a pure oats field sits to the left edge of this photo which was planted to benefit the turkeys as much as the deer. A great 1-2-3 punch of diversity this food plot will provide this year and following years as we maintain the clover.

AdvancedLHS busy this last week. We traveled to Southern Illinois to start managing a 100 acre property. There's so much to do but the biggest key to this property was establishing food. We put in over 14 food plots and finished as the rain was starting! Seed was germinating in 24 hrs after hitting the dirt! That's a food plotters dream! We deployed another cuddelink system for low impact intel. The pictures show one of the kill plots and a transition to a larger destination food source. A small maintained trail connects both with a water hole between. You can bet there's a couple stands with multiple wind options here. This was all part of the habitat plan that was developed. Having some strategy in what you do will help lead to greater success. Random actions will create random results.

Checking out a food plot from last year. Clover was put under corn. The corn provided food for well over a year and now is getting a trim to allow the clover to take over. The food plot was planted one time and should provide forage for 5 years or more with some scheduled mowings to promote the clover.

How about some before and after pictures of a landing we reclaimed for a landowner! What a transformation. The area had be unmaintained for years. We cleared it out and reclaimed most of the original gravel as well. The landowner plans to use this as a firewood landing. We will be back next year to tidy up the far edge once he gets that firewood sold to give him even more space.

Advanced cleaned up some woods roads on a property we manage today. The before and after pictures speak for themselves. We mow these roads one time a year a few weeks before deer season to keep pressure to a minimum on the property. The landowner will have much nicer access to the property for the fall hunting season now.

Ambrosia artemisiifolia, or common ragw**d in all its glory. Scattered ragw**d is unintentionally popping up on one of Advanced home food plots. Many people flock to spraying for w**d control but did you know ragw**d is a highly preferred browse species for whitetail? We're not advocating a w**d infested food plot but some w**ds can be beneficial for your plots. The scattered ragw**d on this plot is giving deer their first browse while the rest of the food plot grows to maturity. Just an example of knowing how mother nature can naturally benefit your property.

The cost of this material with delivery was less than what the homeowner was quoted just for a delivery charge! Depending on material and weight we can deliver up to 10 yards of material at once.
