The Reality: Concrete tiles only shed the bulk of the water and protect against the sun. Your underlayment is the actual waterproof seal of your home.
The Danger: Under our intense local heat, standard felt paper completely bakes, dries out, and cracks like a dry riverbed. When a monsoon microburst pushes water sideways under your tiles, this cracked paper will let water straight into your ceilings.
