This week brought hail to Mesa, Chandler and Gilbert and tornado warnings across the Valley. To everyone cleaning up from real damage, we're thinking of you. ❤️

Hail hit parts of Mesa, Chandler and Gilbert last night. Today we're under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 9 PM and a Flood Watch through Thursday afternoon. We hope everyone is safe and dry. Please don't drive through flooded washes or roads. Turn around, don't drown.

One small heads-up from your neighborhood pest pros: when it storms, plenty of critters go looking for somewhere dry, and sometimes that means your house. Check your door sweeps and patch any gaps you find. If something moves in anyway, give us a call. We're family-owned and right here in Queen Creek.

Rain can bring winged ants and termite swarmers out of their nests. So if you spot wings after the storms, don't panic. Look closer: 👀

🐜 Ant: pinched, skinny waist · front wings longer than the back ones · bent, "elbowed" antennae
🪵 Termite: thick body, no waist · 4 wings all the same length · straight, beaded antennae

Little piles of same-size wings by a window or baseboard? That's worth a look. Termites stay busy year-round in Arizona.

"What type of beetle is he?" 🤔
Our little bug expert called it, and it's a stink beetle (aka pinacate beetle)!

These shiny black desert beetles are super common around the East Valley. When they feel threatened, they do a headstand 🙃 and spray a stinky, oily liquid to scare off anything that bugs them.
They're harmless to people, but that smell is something you won't forget.

And for the record: "Bring it home?" … "No." 😂
