Outdoor receptacle installation tip: if the homeowner can’t even open the cover to plug something in, it probably wasn’t installed in the right way.

I came across this outdoor receptacle installation today and it reminded me why the little details matter in electrical work.
Outdoor outlets should always be installed so the weatherproof cover can open fully and allow a cord to be plugged in while still staying protected from the elements. When they’re installed too low in landscaping or surrounded by rock, the cover can’t open properly and the outlet becomes difficult — or impossible — for the homeowner to actually use.
Good electrical work isn’t just about making something function today. It’s about installing it in a way that is safe, accessible, and usable for the homeowner for years to come.
These are the kinds of details electricians learn to pay attention to over time, because the goal should always be leaving a customer with something that works the way it was intended to.
Sometimes the difference between an average installation and a professional one comes down to thinking ahead about how the homeowner will actually use it.

The big news.

Hard to believe, but after a lifetime in the electrical trade (I started when I was 12), DE and I are easing into semi-retirement this year. Don’t worry—we’re not going anywhere. We’ll still be working, just at a little slower pace… our bodies have been suggesting it for a while now.

We’re looking forward to spending more time golfing, rock hounding, and doing a little traveling while we still can.

Our customers have always come first, and that won’t change. We’ll continue taking care of our current customers and welcome new ones—just on a more limited, select basis. It might take us a little longer to get to you, but you’ll still get the same quality and service.

I’ll also continue staying involved in city government, supporting our community, volunteering with Mohave County Search and Rescue, and staying active with the Oasis Men’s Golf Club (someone has to watch those guys). DE and I will continue giving back to our community through Matrix Electric as much as we can.

We truly appreciate all of our friends, customers, and neighbors. Thank you for your support over the years—it means a lot to us.

Husband and wife. Working together everyday can have a tough time on a relationship.
DE threatened to choke me to death if I didn't stop getting on her last nerve.
Guess I got on her last nerve.
Im still here due to my ninja like reactions.
I broke the chokehold before passing out.

Some are unaware but im turning 65 this year. I thank all those that say i look much younger.

Well after a few weeks of trying to recover our Google listing we've finally managed to get Matrix Electric back on Google.

We've been wondering why our phones havent been ringing as much.

De and I want to thank all of our community for this honor.
Mesquite you rock!
It's about community.
We are now expanding to take care of all our customers as best as possible.
Things are in the works as I type.
Growing pains are real. We did not expect we would get this big. Thank you.
We did this in WA. Started with nothing but a van and my word, my commitment to quality work at a fair price, and turned our business into a million dollar business for years.
