Quality doesn’t happen by accident. It’s something we’re intentional about.

Steve Durand, our Quality Control Manager, is back to explain another step in our plumbing process.

In this video, Steve is putting a test ball between these two pipes to intentionally block the house off. He’ll fill the system with water and then release it all at once. This helps flush the lines, clear out anything that shouldn’t be there, and make sure the system is working the way it should.

And this isn’t something we just started doing. We’ve done this on every house we’ve plumbed since 2014.

For us, being proactive is part of who we are. We’d rather take the extra steps during the build to identify potential issues before they become problems later.

What a great day at the DFW Trade Day! 🙌

We were honored to be part of the CIEF: Construction Industry Education Foundation Career Connected Learning event, where 600 high school studentscame out to explore different career paths and opportunities.

We love being able to share what we do in the trades and hopefully inspire a few students to consider a career in construction. 🔨🛠️

Big thanks to Jamie Warren from Chesmar Homes DFW (Sekisui House Australia) for asking us to join and the CIE Foundation for putting this together and letting J&S Mechanical be a part of it!

Quality isn’t just something we talk about - it’s something we check.

Meet Steve Durand, our Quality Control Manager at J&S Mechanical. Steve has been with J&S for 11 years and brings 30 years of experience as a plumber to our team.

One of the things Steve does is walk through our homes at different stages of construction, checking the details that can easily get overlooked - from clean outs and hose bibs to tankless water heaters and making sure everything is installed properly and working the way it should.

It’s another set of experienced eyes on the jobsite, helping catch things early and making sure our builders and homeowners get the quality they expect from J&S.

We’re proud to have people like Steve on our team who care about doing the job right. 👊

Really grateful to Brian Lux with Taylor Morrison for taking the time to share some positive feedback about J&S. He shared that we have been one of, if not the best, vendors they’ve worked with and specifically mentioned our processes, communication and quality of installs.

We were honored to be visited by the President and team from Daikin Comfort last week. 🤝

They wanted to spend some time with our team, learn more about how we do things at J&S, and understand some of the processes behind our growth.

Honestly, it was pretty cool to sit down and share what we’ve been working on and how much we are growing. Even better, they wanted our feedback on their products and what we are seeing out in the field.

That says a lot about the kind of partnership we want to have — not just buying and selling, but actually working together, listening to each other and continuing to get better.

We were grateful for the time they spent with our team and are excited for the future!

What does Quality Control really look like at J&S Mechanical?

We want our builders to know what happens behind the scenes after our crews finish their work — because for us, it’s not just about getting the job done. It’s about getting it done right.

Meet Steve Durand, our Quality Control Manager. Steve has 30 years of experience as a plumber and has been part of the J&S team for 11 years, so he knows what to look for!

Steve walks through our homes throughout the process, checking that everything is installed properly, functioning correctly, and meeting our standards.

One important part of our QC process is our pre-pour and final camera inspections on every home. These inspections allow us to look inside the sewage system and catch irregularities that could potentially create problems down the road — before they become a homeowner’s problem.

This is one of the many ways we work to protect the quality of the home, support our builders, and ultimately take care of the homeowner.

We want our builders to know that we care about the homes we work on just as much as you do.

This kind of feedback means A LOT.
Brian Lux with Taylor Morrison recently told us that J&S is the best trade they've ever had. I'm not sharing that to boast, but because we are truly gratetul and humbled that he took the time to say it.
So often in this business, we hear about what went wrong, but not always what went right. Brian specifically mentioned our seriousness about safety, our dedicated safety person, communication, and the quality of our installs.
Our team works hard at these things every single day. We care about our builders, we care about our people, and we care about doing the job right.
