Today’s Roof Replacement

Most roofing companies would have simply covered this up and kept moving.

On today’s Re Roof This home had old 1x6 slat decking with gaps greater than 1/8”, which means to qualify for a FORTIFIED Roof™ standard, it requires a minimum 1/2” plywood overlay.

But here’s the issue…

If there’s missing wood or holes in areas of the existing decking, and you just throw plywood over the top, you are no longer getting consistent strength throughout the roof system. In one area, the plywood is sitting over solid wood. In another, it’s sitting over a void.

That may pass for “good enough” to some contractors.

Not us.
