**LOOK WHO'S WORKING FOR US!**

This is a four-toothed mason wasp , and she's got a little surprise in her grasp , a larva she's caught to take home and feed her offspring.

This is exactly why I tell folks: slow down on the pesticides.

Not every bug in the garden is the enemy. Some are predators, hunters, pollinators, and part of the workforce we didn't have to hire.

At Food Plant Nursery, we're trying to build a place where , nature can do some of the work for us. Give the wasps, praying mantis, toads, birds, spiders and other predators a home, and they can help keep the pest population in check.

Self-sufficiency isn't just growing food.

It's learning how to work with nature instead of trying to kill everything we don't recognize.

We'll be opening back up for fall sales!

We'll have ,, berry bushes, apple trees, Comfrey, garlic, Jerusalem artichokes, and a variety of seeds I've collected, things you can put in the ground and keep producing for years to come.

And as always, you can come by appointment anytime.

SO I DID SOME RESEARCH,, GIANT ROBBER FLY is NATURE’S HITMAN!

I’m not a big fan of horse flies. They LOVE biting my sheep and goats, and the dog absolutely HATE them!

So when I see a giant robber fly grab one and take it out, I’m a little more happy!

These things are serious predators. They catch flies, wasps, beetles, grasshoppers and other flying insects right out of the air.

This is exactly why I don’t want to spray everything that crawls or flies around the nursery.

We need MORE predators, not fewer.

Build the ecosystem and let nature help with the pest control.

Nature knows what it's doing.

We don't spray to kill every bug—we build a place where the predators do the work. Praying mantises, toads, birds, bats, spiders... they're all part of a healthy food forest.

This praying mantis just caught lunch!

Work *with* nature, not against it.
