❗️ THIS NEEDS TO BE SEEN BY THE MASSES! 👀

There is a huge problem right now impacting government and private entities. There is a very real salt supply issue and while Detroit does have a mine, and yes, shipments are in motion, it's still not enough to handle day after day snow events.

The governmental entities get a pass on liability exposure by far and large. The private companies? The snow removal companies? The rental property owners? They are still liable for the slips, trips, falls, and injuries that occur on their watch despite their best ability to treat slick conditions with limited option of supplies.

Sand? Risk getting fined if you use it in many municipalities. Not an ideal long term solution for daily snows.

Additives or liquids? Not always allowed and often requires specialty equipment.

There have been new case law standards in Michigan that put immense liability on the small guy and right now, some may be finding themselves in legal trouble due to INACTION at the state.

The cities, townships, counties, all get priority and then the massive contractor companies often have their own reserves and supplies and the distributors that do have it to sell, increase the prices not double, but triple, and then some! There are companies waiting on orders from SPRING that they may not ever get, or may have to pay extreme premiums to do so. What do those who can't even get salt to treat properties do? Even with "planning ahead", it's not as simple as just storing salt year round with various regulations and complexities involved with doing so. And to store an effective amount for a large company, often takes a lot of space! So orders and allotments come into play and right now, the government is first in line.

This cannot continue year after year, particularly when there should be a very reasonable solution to this! Yes, there are issues with saltwalter run off into our water sources. That's a real issue and will continue to be. But right NOW, we need to start doing something to help our businessowners and property owners around the state so that they don't foot the bill for our government sitting idle.

They declare states of emergency and can issue various orders that could help contractors out. There could be investigations into market manipulation and regulation chokeholds. There could be a temporary order to bring open and obvious back into case consideration.

But yet, they are too busy with other things.
