Bad news for Mangos this year

Once again this year we have had a late cold snap after the mangos started blooming. Several clients have called me upset that the new buds have turned black and fallen off the tree. Sadly there is nothing we can do to stop this. Mangos are tropical trees native to from the region between northwestern Myanmar, Bangladesh, and northeastern India. These are areas that don't get as cold as we occasionally do. When mango blooms are exposed to temperatures below 55 degrees it effects the embryo in the seed. The chill causes physiological damage preventing the embryo from setting and you don't get fruit. This happened last year and it looks like it's happening again this year. I personally love mangos and look forward to the season every year. This year the season doesn't look good. Keep an eye on your trees and if you see the young blossoms falling, know you will have a small harvest.

About four weeks ago, one of my chainsaws was stolen from a jobsite. It was sitting on the truck, some guy drove up snatched it fast and took off. It wasn't just any chainsaw, it was a Stihl 500i. this is a cutting edge technology, fuel injected chainsaw. EXPENSIVE, almost $1800 after tax. Yesterday one of my employees was at a pawnshop and spotted my chainsaw there on the wall. with my company name and phone number etched into it. Police are involved, saw is on hold I'm waiting on follow up from the special pawnshop detective, but end of story, I will get my baby back!!!
