This was copied from my dear friend Lisa Jordan’s page...who is the founder and executive director of Providing for Women. I thought she said this so well that it was important to share her words....
“I am beyond grateful for each and every person who has donated to Providing for Women allowing us to fulfil our mission while we strive to reach our vision.
YOU make a difference! YOU distribute dignity! YOU help women / girls be able to go to work or school! YOU boost confidence with each package we distribute.
Period poverty exists in YOUR communities. The inability to have enough funds to purchase period products is real! SNAP benefits (aka food stamps) and WIC do not allow the purchase of hygiene products or other taxable items ( toilet paper, soap, shampoo, detergent, toothpaste, diapers, etc), leaving many to choose between buying the toilet paper or buying the pads or tampons they need to deal with their period, or their daughters period.
Some of us are a paycheck away from having to make these tough decisions. Some of you have had to make those tough decisions.
This is why Providing for Women exists, to give back to our community one pad, one liner, one tampon at a time.
Your donation may be the one thing that gives someone HOPE. “
