The 2024 PCI Design Awards program recognized API in an Honorable Mention for our One Willoughby Square project in Brooklyn, New York.

In the heart of Brooklyn, One Willoughby Square stands 34 stories tall, featuring nearly 400 precast concrete brick-clad spandrels using custom brick shapes. All the precast concrete elements were sandblasted and stained with a blue-glazed brick featuring an Acapulco texture.

The firm chose to partner with Architectural Precast Innovations Inc. on the precast concrete solution. The precast concrete components were fabricated in advance and stored for delivery, which allowed a more efficient installation compared to a field-constructed assembly of materials. Precast concrete panels were able to be fabricated off site and then craned into place, making it both convenient and also less impactful to the surrounding neighborhood.
