When a potential customer calls and asks you to look at a job that someone else has started but didn't finish, you know it's not going to be good. They even left some of there tools after receiving a payment and never returned.
FYI, Don't hire shade tree guys! Just don't do it! It will cost you in the end.

Its always an uneasy and unsure feeling for the customer, as well as myself after they have had a unfortunate situation with another company.
Speaking for myself, I tend to tread lightly as your not sure if the disappointment and uncertainties will be carried on and if you can earn their trust and exceed their expectations.
As you can tell from the before and after pics and after me seeing the smile on their face, I'm Glad they made the call and I was able to help. We even finished on Mr Barkeloo's Birthday, which was a plus plus.
