This has been a very interesting year business wise in the roofing industry. I've seen many big changes. Insurance companies and how they are handling claims, how roofers are marketing, prices going up and up and customers becoming more informed about roof replacements.
Just a couple of days ago I visited a client who was shopping for a new roof. She had a small to mid size but beautiful home. She was a referral from a previous customer. I was the second roofing company to visit and give her a quote. I went over a couple of options we offer. Both included lifetime warranties with 15 years fully guaranteed and a full system built to Ohio code. I presented our offer and the lady almost cried when she saw our prices. At first I didn't know what to think. She quickly said yes I'll go with your company. She then showed me what the first company offered her. I was stunned when I saw their offer for her home. It was nearly four, yes four times more expensive than what we charge. In fairness the other company was replacing her decking. If it's needed and we replace that as well, we'll still be more than $20,000 under their bid. I explained that to the customer and she understands.
No condemnation on another business and how they operate or what they charge. What I am expressing is that homeowners should get a second or a third quote on a job. Customers should understand what each company is offering. A lower bid isn't necessarily a better option nor does it mean you'll get less for your money either. As always check reviews online for companies from a variety of sources. Ask questions about what you're buying and make an informed decision about what you'll receive. Good luck finding the best roofer for your home.
