Barcia Construction’s Tidbits: we are removing this chimney from this turn-of-the century house because all that is left is on the second floor — the access to the roof had been removed by a previous owner. I found some children’s shoes in the metal opening. I have read about this tradition of old, but never encountered any shoes in any of our remodels or flips until now. Shoes, usually from a child, were left in walls near entrances to the outside such as by doors or windows or fireplaces for good luck or to ward off evil spirits from entering the house.
