We all got our reasons...
If you find that factory farmed food is not real nutrition for the children of tomorrow.
If you find yourself realizing we’ve eroded practically all the topsoil on earth.
If you find yourself struggling with the poisoning of the land, the sky, and sea.
If you feel burnt out by the reality that consumer capitalism has stolen our labor for unequal exchange.
If you find that society uses but undervalues one another.
If you believe the resources of our only earth are grossly mismanaged in the name of profits.
If you find yourself struggling with the reality that in the year 2026 human beings have no clean water access.
If you find yourself thinking real food is real expensive.
If you’re tired because you’ve spent your whole life paying taxes to enshrine those who strip the land and keep nations at war.
If you find yourself wondering when we exchanged skills, knowledge, and personal responsibility for the always empty promises of politicians, corporations, and technocrats.
If you don’t like ingesting plastic.
If you really want small, compassionate, and united communities who reciprocate.
If you believe nature is the medicine we are missing.
If you care about biodiversity.
If you understand that caring for the life of the land means it will also care for you.
If you think it’s time we do it different by observing the wisdom of creation and learning from the best examples of our past.
If you want to actualize real change...

Permaculture is for you.

When it feels like the natural order is eroding, PERMACULTURE observes mother nature to turn problems into lasting solutions.

Want to regenerate soil to grow an abundance of nutrient dense foods for your family and community? How about a diverse backyard orchard? Want to learn Natural Farming, and forage in your own FOOD FOREST or beyond organic garden? We help you to utilize permaculture through conscious design, harmonious implementation, and mentorship.

Let’s grow diversely, harvest rainwater, avoid chemicals, support ecology, and build healthy soil for healthy humans.

Permaculture holds the knowledge to heal and yesterday was the time to take action.

Go to www.ancientoriginspermaculture.com to find out how to turn your backyard, pasture, orchard, or homestead into a harmonious regenerative system. After checking out our educational blogs there is also a consult form.

Permaculture is Earth care, People care, and Future care. It is a proven science that can be learned, applied, and taught to everyone you know. In fact, that’s the point... A million responsible forest gardens feeding our communities in alignment with ecology and culture.

Let’s actualize together, nourishing communities through regenerative cycles. Take a deep dive into the principles and methods with us while we work to improve the land. Enjoy your place in nature rather than weeding, fertilizing, and irrigating constantly.

Permaculture is more accessible than you might think. We are happy to design, build, and help guide you on your journey. We offer plans focused on soil science, water harvesting earthworks, natural farming, polyculture guilds, composting, and native conservation. We share knowledge, experience, and a willingness to actualize your goals together.

We are a small business thriving on principles. We operate on a sliding pay scale. It is the responsible thing to do, because Permaculture is for EVERYONE.

How quickly things can change when we observe to take action with the wisdom of permaculture.
It doesn't require vast wealth, thousands of acres, modern technology, or industrial scale machines.

Usually, the best tool is just you.

This was raw land no one lived on for a long time in May of 2026. 3 months later, and we're already walking around to forage/harvest both perennial and annual foods and medicines. That's just working with what nature offers. That's the power of collecting the best practices of creation. That's Ancient Origins Permaculture.

We've come a long way only to say that while innovation thrives and derives from the freedom of the individual, the best way forward is to observe and learn from the past. Maybe there isn't meant to be a global food chain at all? The responsibility more likely lies within ourselves just as it did with our ancestors.

Here's a link to one of our educational blogs if you'd like to learn more about the science behind how permaculture makes rapid change for people and planet possible.

Since we've relocated, I've been focused on turning this wild place into a functioning little permaculture farm for my family, a tough task in the hot and humid summer, though I'm cool with taking what is given and going with the flow, even if that takes time.

As we transition our family and this here permaculture design business to our new space, I have been reflecting (perhaps thinking too much at times). Permaculture has taught us much more than soil science. The views we hold of the earth are ultimately reflected within ourselves. Taking better care of ourselves is something of a sacred and spiritual ritual. It's not only beneficial to ourselves, but the community/ecosystem as a whole. Truly a win win.

I've taken time for my own health as I reach middle age, with a focus on running mountain trails. As if building out the spaces we design wasn't hard enough work... Honestly, I just enjoy being in nature, and running allows me to be present in a world where it seems harder to do that every day. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for improving and working hard, but we have a problem in society where we think everything always must progress, and that's the ideology of a cancer cell. It's no wonder that even in fields like regenerative Ag or conservation, we are pushed into the consumerism of purchasing new ways to solve problems that wouldn't exist if we just stopped thinking we always had a bigger and better way.
I always talk about a return to the past and there's so many reasons for it. I wonder if we would have not just survived, but thrived and helped other species thrive if we never left the ways of the past in exchange for industry and bureaucracy.
At some point and we can find too many examples, we became a danger to one another, to ourselves, and this whole planet.

Starting in our backyards and leading all the way to farms that feed the masses, we can begin today with honest observation and change. Permaculture does this and we're happy to show you how.

Tough time for new forest garden making, but I know a guy. His thoughts today...

America was born out of rebellion against concentrated power. Now power is held through concentrated wealth. Corporations/individuals with endless funds are modern Kings.

The systems made to keep us free are utilized by elites to suspend liberty, but our freedom isn’t given by the law/politicians. There will always be a new enemy of personal freedom, and it’s rarely the one the media tells you about?

Still, we are a nation of individual rights. As we celebrate this idea made official 250 years ago, I wonder if we’ll continue to protect freedom when the system is entirely occupied by wealthy technocrats and beurocrats who rage against individual liberty and purpose.

How do you stand against poisoning the land and sea when corporations lobby with vast funding? How do you protect the backcountry when officials are bought and you are just one poor man who enjoys silence? How do you stop data centers and the harvesting of your intellect when Kings peddle AI we rely on more and more?

You are FREE to be the smallest minority. One human being, protected by the greatest concept man has come up with.
Freedom must be carefully guarded from the corruption of the individual just as from mobs that would require all man to accept and follow their method.

You are free to live as you please, unless it impacts others negatively, unless you live your days as a tool to corrupt minds, requiring the rule of the mob to impose your view. Your freedom is personal, it is funny that what makes it sacred is also what protects others from it.

We aren’t nearly as free as the word implies. Freedom was bought and paid for in blood. We are privelaged to participate in this grand experiment here and now, for many are oppressed still.

Conservation requires restraint.
For now, you are free to speak your mind. So speak it wisely. For now, you can become whatever you’d like. Choose wisely who you will be.

I am thankful to live my life as a free man. If I serve my country, may it not be through armed forces but by representing for others what it means to be free.

Place based design is vital to the balance and harmony we seek on planet earth. A plant that has naturalized and grown in a region for thousands of years is the best choice. If that plant can provide beauty and human fuel while also stacking functions such as biodynamic accumulation of nutrients, erosion control, mulching in place, habitat, pollinator food, and so on... well then of course, that's even better.

While we love to eat all the fruits, nuts, and berries, some projects are more about creating ecological harmony where it has been stripped away. Native garden design puts what I think are important parameters on the endless Polyculture guilds we could dream up. This is not a virtue signal. It is about real longterm success that honors culture and place while being able to provide valuable foods, medicines, and resources. Just because we can ship bananas around the world and purchase them for pennies does not mean they are healthy or that we should be doing it at all.

I didn't always think this way. When we first started Ancient Origins Permaculture, I wanted to plant anything folks would ask us to if I thought it would survive. Over the years, I've learned more deeply how flawed our thinking as a society is and the effects it truly does have on the whole of nature. In the end, it is ourselves we are robbing. Shiny new objects aren't always best. We don't need Himalayan plants in Appalachia, and vice versa.

I'll be honest, I'm a big fan of the people of the past and their place based resilience. Not only do we love watching the matrix of these designs mature and provide such beauty, but we feel good in our hearts knowing we stand on principles that truly hold the earth in balance for future generations.

The space in the photos is a quickly thrown together shaded eastern PA dryland due to slope and soil type. Not the biggest job, but the choices were made for so much more than beauty. The earth itself reshaped for much more than beauty, now water can be harvested naturally and plants that belong here can thrive on their own and provide just as they always have.

What do you do on a rain day?

Personally, I mulched at For the Future Community Forest Garden because I couldn’t find other time. Then I delivered a ton of natives to a cute townhouse project we’ll build out tomorrow rain or shine. Hopefully shine.

In all seriousness, we need a good long soak. Here’s to the rain and the life we would never have without these things we take for granted.

Speaking of things we take for granted, how about one another... The second set of photos here is of the folks who showed up on Community Day to help us plant and bring For the Future Forest Garden to life in East Vincent Township at The Park on the Ridge. I sincerely can’t thank each of them enough, and I also can’t thank the Township enough for running with a child's idea and then offering the space to allow us to bring it to life.

It was a task at times. The big take away is that we were able to orchestrate this offering to the community. It is a beautiful return to how food used to be grown and harvested in this land long ago.

Peace, Love, and Permaculture,
Tyler

What does it mean to be human? We play pretend, as far too many of us are now entirely incapable of the feats our ancestors accomplished. Most of us are honestly more machine than man, and it shows.

Conveniently, the machine with all the answers never really is accurate. Generic responses aren't a nuanced solution. AI makes promises, but nothing is a replicator of deep dives into your own research. Also, they never explain the real cost for what is simply too cheap and too easy to be true.

We've already rapidly integrated these technologies into our lives to an extent that they are embedded and almost unavoidable if you participate in the modern world. No guiderails, just captains of industry, true robber barons telling us what's best. They'll be dead wrong for the sake of profiteering while we fall for the SLOP they've made of our lives.

Creativity and compassion aren't manufactured on machines. Real change happens within human hearts, with human minds and human hands. Think whatever you want about that statement.

Maybe creativity, togetherness, and earned knowledge are better answers. The "real" work isn't always easy, but it's always satisfying to know our integrity prevented us from contributing to further ecological and societal collapse.

Haven't you been lied to enough. Time to listen to your mother. We share her with all life and we only have one.

Peace, Love, and Permaculture,
Tyler
