This beautiful flower is a Swamp Rose Mallow. They are in the hibiscus family and are typically found in wetlands, or along waterways. These flowers bloom from July to September. Previously these plants were used to treat coughs, inflammation and irritation. They were also consumed from their flowers to seeds and down to their roots, but do not have much flavor. Make sure to properly identify any plant before consuming.
