PART 2: ROOT COLLAR EXCAVATION

Join Kara (Dave's wife) as she watches the Ascension boys trim back the girdling roots around this tree's trunk. This process helps restore healthy movement of water and nutrients through a tree, supporting stronger growth, long-term health, and stability

Homeowners, here’s a few things to watch for! 👀

🌱 Roots circling or wrapping around the trunk
🌳 Little to no visible root flare at the base (including MULCH VOLCANO)
🍂 Early fall color or premature leaf drop
🍃 Thinning canopy
⚠️ Dieback starting at the top

Give Ascension a call if you notice any of these issues!

⚡️ ITS ALIVE! ITS ALIVE! ⚡️

Even Frankenstein needed a little structural support. 🧟 🌳

The bolts in this photo are part of a tree bracing and cabling system to reinforce a weak or compromised union between major stems. When properly installed, bracing can reduce the risk of separation and provide additional structural support. The tree in this photo had sentimental value to one of our customers, and the goal was to reduce movement and extend the trees life.

Not every tree with structural issues needs to be removed. Sometimes, the right support can help preserve the tree while managing risk.

Before winter arrives, take a look up! If you notice, dead limbs, cracks, leaning trees, or other concerns, our team can help keep your property safe and your trees healthy!

Two kinds of people should read this.

🔹New to tree work

$200–$300/day on the ground. No experience required. Paid training. You’ll learn the chipper, saws, rigging, and how to operate a job safely and efficiently. Show up, work hard, and there’s a path off the ground.

🔸Already climbing and looking for a better fit

$300–$400/day. SRT and MRT required. Year-round work, paid holidays, vacation, and retirement match. Room to move into lead climber, foreman, or sales arborist role.

We’re based in Milford and work throughout Oakland County. We don’t spike trees we trim. Safety isn’t optional here. Gear inspections, briefings, and PPE are part of the job, not something we skip to finish faster.

If that sounds like the kind of crew you want to work on, DM GROUND or CLIMB, or apply at ascensiontreecare.com/careers

This frog owes 🏔️ Montana Lorente 🌲 its life! She spotted him tucked away in a log that was actively being chipped.

Before, during, and after on a recent tree removal / habitat installation project we did in where our client was forced to remove a cherished tree. It came out great!!

We're excited to head back and see what kind of birds will move in!

Arborist Dan and Tree Health Technician Mike can be seen here administering a preventative Oak Wilt treatment in Milford Michigan.

These two neighbors lost a tree to oak wilt due to negligence from another tree service who used spikes to ascend and trim a couple years ago.

Using spikes to trim a tree is ALWAYS lazy and bad for tree health, but is especially dangerous in the early summer months where Oak Wilt transmission peaks.

Oak Wilt will spread through connected root systems, so our Arborist team is making sure these trees have the best chance to survive!
