🚽 TOILET CLOGGED? Let’s talk about what NOT to flush! 💧
Nobody wants to deal with a clogged toilet! 😅 A few simple habits can help keep things flowing and save you from an unexpected plumbing headache.
Here are a few tips from your friends at Clear Choice Plumbing 👇
💧 1. Remember the 3 Ps!
The only things that should go down your toilet are p*e, p**p, and toilet paper. Everything else belongs in the trash!
🧻 2. Flushable wipes aren’t really flushable!
Even if the package says “flushable,” those wipes don’t break down like toilet paper. They can build up in your pipes, cause stubborn clogs, and contribute to sewer backups. Throw wipes in the trash instead!
🧻 3. Don’t overdo the toilet paper.
Using large amounts at once can contribute to clogs, especially in older plumbing or pipes that already have issues. If needed, flush smaller amounts.
🚫 4. If the water starts rising, STOP flushing!
Whatever you do, don’t keep hitting that handle! You could turn a simple clog into a bathroom flood. Let the water settle, and if it looks like it might overflow, turn off the toilet’s water supply if you can safely reach the valve.
🔧 5. Keep an eye on recurring clogs.
If your toilet keeps clogging, drains slowly, or makes gurgling noises, there could be a deeper issue in the drain line. Don’t keep fighting the same problem — it may be time to have it checked out.
