Its been a busy year, we have been involved with a Air to Water Heatpump project which includes so far, LG Multi-V Hydro Kit heat pumps, and two with Samsung Hydro Kit heat pumps. These heat pumps use an R-410a outdoor unit supplying an indoor heat pump operating on R-134a.
Thermal storage is used to mediate between the timing of the low-cost electricity and the space heating load. A primary operating constraint is that thermal comfort is not compromised regardless of the timing required to purchase the electricity.
While retail time-of-use rates offer a starting-point, more innovative tariffs will allow the systems to take advantage of the dynamically changing wholesale prices. The project's systems use a forwarding looking optimization algorithm (FLO) capable of optimizing energy purchase in either of these pricing scenarios.
